To my family, friends, patients, and small-town community,
I want to share something from the heart because this community has always meant so much to me.
Over the past two months, I have walked through a difficult and unexpected situation involving paperwork from my previous employment that I had never seen or signed. Because of this, I was temporarily restricted from announcing my new position, which created confusion and led to some misunderstandings in the community. I want to gently reassure you that none of this was my choice or under my control.
I can no longer stand on the sidelines without defending myself. There has been misinformation circulating in our community claiming that I have a contract and a non-compete clause with my previous employer. That is simply not true. I have never seen—let alone signed—the contract that has dictated my fate over the past several months.
Because of this questionable document, I was placed under a temporary restraining order that prevented me from sharing the exciting news of my new employment and new chapter in healthcare. And although the court hearing was dropped at the last hour a few weeks ago, the damage had already been done. These past 3 months of enjoying my new role and workplace were taken from me.
I refuse to remain silent while my reputation is unfairly tarnished. I have devoted my heart and soul to serving the people of Schulenburg, Flatonia, Weimar, Hallettsville, LaGrange, and so many other rural communities. I have so much more to offer, and the future remains bright. Throughout this difficult time, I have leaned heavily on God, followed the rules, and stayed the course.
I also want to express how thankful I am for the kindness, patience, and quiet support many of you have shown, even without knowing the details. Our small towns are built on relationships, trust, and looking out for one another. That’s what makes this place home.
I’m incredibly excited to share that Hometown Wellness Clinic in Hallettsville has welcomed me with open arms. It already feels like home. Here, I can practice medicine the way I’ve always dreamed of—by listening, educating, focusing on prevention and natural treatments when appropriate, and caring for families of all ages with compassion.
My only hope during all of this was to continue serving the people I care about in a positive environment. While the past few months were not what I expected, I believe God uses every detour for something good. I have felt renewed, hopeful, and incredibly grateful.
All I ever wanted was a positive environment where I could continue serving the people I love. And despite the bumps along the way, I truly believe God brought me exactly where I’m meant to be.
If you’re seeking a family practice provider who truly listens, advocates for your wellbeing, and offers both traditional and natural approaches to care, I invite you to join me at Hometown Wellness Clinic. It would be my honor to take care of you.
Thank you for believing in me. Thank you for supporting me. And thank you for being the heart of what makes rural communities so special. I’m grateful, hopeful, and excited for what’s ahead.
With love and gratitude,
Pamela Dittrich Slaton, FNP-BC
