NVCC Senior Center Pushes Back Opening

Another week has passed and the doors of the Navidad Valley Community Connections Center have not reopened. While the new set up is completed, NVCC felt it prudent to wait on the results of the Schulenburg COVID-19 testing last week.

Since the July 4th holiday is approaching, the center will wait until July 6 before consider reopening the doors. NVCC may consider a phased reopening, with just those who wish to play games or play bingo before beginning with a full food service.

NVCC has considered playing dominos under the pavilion in Wolter’s Park. The weather is a big consideration in that endeavor, as it often gets hot pretty early in the day. Whichever the decision will be, regular members will be called.

NVCC has published new guidelines for the center. Each person will have their temperature taken prior to entering the hall. Members will be asked to wash their hands with soap and water for 20 seconds before signing in. Members are asked to practice physical distancing and everyone will need to wear a mask until it is no longer recommended by the governor.

Since Texas has had an increase in COVID-19 cases and wearing a mask is recommended in all public places and for all gatherings, NVCC is continuing to make them. They follow CDC guidelines and are three layers thick. Elastic is now available so folks can have a choice of straps or elastic.
