Students, faculty and staff at all 11 Texas A&M System universities across the state will soon have quick and easy access to free testing for COVID-19. “Ensuring the health and safety of our students is our top priority,” said John Sharp, chancellor of the Texas A&M University System.

The Blinn College District has set a new Summer II enrollment record with 4,667 students. Fall registration remains open; classes will be available online and on campus.

Fayette County Sheriff Keith Korenek reports that on Saturday evening around 7:54 p.m. Deputy Ryan Meagher conducted a traffic stop on a 1997 silver Acura on State Hwy. 71 eastbound near Morgan Rd. in the Plum area for failing to maintain a single lane.

The Colorado Citizen • Sterling Noles, 18, a 2020 graduate of Columbus High School and an employee of H-E-B was found deceased on a stretch of FM 102 approximately one mile south of I-10 the night of May 29. According to the Colorado County Sheriff Office, his cause of death is still under investigation.

The City of La Grange has designated Saturday, July 25, as Residential Bulk Curbside Pick-Up Day for the hard to dispose of bulky items that are difficult for you to take to our drop off during our semiannual cleanup. Republic Services will pick up one free load of bulky items on this day. All items should be within three feet of the curb by 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Trucks will be starting at 7:00 a.m. on Saturday morning to pick up items from the entire city.

The number of people currently infected with coronavirus in Fayette County reached 100 on Wednesday, July 15, according to data released by the Fayette County Office of Emergency Management. Since officials began tracking the pandemic back in March, 214 people have been infected with the virus and 99 people have recovered.
