Houston Man Arrested For Drugs And No Driver’s License

Fayette County Sheriff Keith Korenek reports that on Saturday evening around 7:54 p.m. Deputy Ryan Meagher conducted a traffic stop on a 1997 silver Acura on State Hwy. 71 eastbound near Morgan Rd. in the Plum area for failing to maintain a single lane.

When contact was made with the driver, who was sweating profusely and exhibiting nervous behavior, the driver admitted to not having a valid driver’s license or proof of insurance. Consent to search the vehicle was given and Meagher located small baggies consistent with illegal drugs.

Meagher then asked for consent to see the wallet of the driver which contained a baggie with a white powdery substance that was consistent with cocaine. The driver, 40 yr. old Jose Alexander Diaz of Houston, was arrested and transported to the Dan R. Beck Justice Center and charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance.
