Wagner Receives Scholarship

Aidan Wagner, a graduate of Round-Top Carmine High School, was recently awarded the Minute Maid Grand Slam for Youth Baseball Scholarship. This $5,000 scholarship is awarded annually by Minute Maid and the Houston Astros to 25 deserving high school seniors in the greater Houston area who have participated in organized youth baseball programs. Aidan is attending the College of Engineering at Texas A&M University this Fall. Wagner is the son of Jason and Karen Wagner of Round Top.

Animal Cruelty Charges Filed

La Grange Police Chief David Gilbreath reports that on Friday, Aug. 7 at 3:20 p.m. Animal Control Officer Dean Ahlschlager and La Grange Police Officer Cari Haman responded to a deceased animal in the back yard at 849 E. Upperline St.

Free Testing Next Week at Fairgrounds

A free, painless, COVID-19 testing event will be held Aug.17 - 21 at the Fayette County Fairgrounds in La Grange. There will be free testing for all and Fayette County residency is not required.

LG Preps Budget for a ‘Trying’ Financial Future

La Grange City Manager Shawn Raborn presented an overview of the proposed 2020- 2021 City Budget at a meeting Monday evening, Aug. 10. Planned spending for next year came in at $13,906,960, about $1 million less than the current year’s budget of $15,071,932.
