Hostyn Catholic Daughters presented a check to the AMEN Food Pantry on Oct. 31 after the evening Mass. Lillian Kallus, the spiritual enhancement chairperson, presented the check to Linda Oltmann, the AMEN representative. Bluebonnet Electric Cooperative’s offices will be closed Wednesday, Nov 11, in observance of Veterans Day. Bluebonnet’s control room is staffed 24 hours a day, every day. Should an outage occur, Bluebonnet personnel will be on call Veterans Day to restore power as quickly and as safely as possible.

More than 13,000 Fayette County citizens cast a ballot in this year’s general election. Nearly 72 percent of those voted early or with an absentee ballot.

• Donald Trump garnered 78.41% of the Fayette County vote for president. Four years ago he won 78.64-percent of the county vote. No winner had been declared in the presidential race as of press time.

Mark Massey is the newly elected mayor of Round Top by a vote of 54 to 36 over incumbent mayor Barry Bone. Based on his research, Massey thinks he may be the youngest mayor In the town’s history. “I’ll be 40 on Nov. 9 and believe I will be the 27th mayor going back to 1870,” he said. “I’m honored and excited and ready to get started.”
