Local Election Highlights

• Donald Trump garnered 78.41% of the Fayette County vote for president. Four years ago he won 78.64-percent of the county vote. No winner had been declared in the presidential race as of press time.

• Carmine’s Marsha Burnett-Webster won just 20-percent of the county vote in her race for the State Board of Education, but districtwide she got 45-percent of the vote, just losing to Tom Maynard.

• There were several local unopposed races, including Sheriff (Keith Korenek), County Attorney (Peggy Supak) and two of the four commissioners (Jason McBroom and Harvey Berckenhoff )

• The late Rosalinda Adamcik still appeared on the ballot unopposed for County Tax Assessor-Collector because the ballot had been printed prior to her death on Aug. 29. Her successor, Sylvia Mendoza, has already been named and sworn in.

• Bryan Milson won re-election as mayor of Flatonia, beating challenger James Longmire 348 to 152.

• In a four-person race for two spots on the Flatonia City Council, Allen Kocian and Mark Eversole prevailed, with Eversole edging Donna Cockrell by just one vote, 202 to 201.
