Linda Patterson will perform a special organ concert on New Year’s Day afternoon at Festival Hill in the Edythe Bates Old Chapel. Patterson will perform works by J.S. Bach and Christmas songs by French composers of his time, as well as Chorales by German composers on the historic Henry Erben and Traugott Wandke pipe organs. The program will begin at 3 p.m. and end at 4:30 p.m. with no intermission.

The Lower Colorado River Authority recently awarded nearly $530,000 in Community Development Partnership Program (CDPP) grants for community projects within LCRA’s wholesale electric, water, and transmission service areas.

Lane Rightmer graduated with a Master of Science in Nutrition from Baylor University on Dec. 19. The ceremony was typical 2020 with virtual graduation taking place via her name rolling across the McLane Stadium jumbotron instead of Lane getting to walk across a stage. She also obtained her Registered Dietitian credential in August of 2020.

Individuals checking out the lights in the Winchester area were treated to some great displays last Saturday night at the contest judging. Winners of the contest were Chuck and Dinah Breeden whose home exhibited a beautiful light display and claimed the first prize. The “land of misfit toys” was the theme of the lighting display at the Scott and Jodi Miller home which came in second and the whimsical “flying pig” display brought the third-place prize to the Britt and Sherry Karisch home. This first-time event brought 12 entries and many participants hope it will grow and become an annual event.

The Fayette County Record’s Eat.Shop.Play. Contest has come to an end. Three lucky people were the recipients of some “free money” to spend at the participating merchants. Marilyn Moeller won a $300 gift certificate, Rita Addicks won a $200 gift certificate, and John Battle won a $100 gift certificate. Each of these lucky people can take these certificates to the participating merchants and redeem them for merchandise in their store. Shannon Tienert was the winner of the Christmas Bingo Secret Word prize basket.

Most Rev. Joe Vásquez, Bishop of the Austin Diocese celebrated the sacrament of Confirmation on Nov. 8 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Fayetteville. The board of the Fayette County Commission for Intellectual Disabilities provided a drive-thru Christmas treat meal for those it serves at the Henry Dittrich Senior Opportunity Center. The board gathered at the Hirsch and Felice Schwartz group homes to sing Christmas carols. All the residents received a present from the board.
