Palm Sunday, March 28, was celebrated at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Warda with the confirmation of Ashton Michelle Grimm and Andrew Blake Davis. Ashton’s parents are Matthew and Kimberly Grimm and Andrew’s parents are Brooke and Christopher Kover and Toby Davis.

Lavaca County, long known as a center for dancing to all genres, proved itself this last weekend, the 27th and 28th of March. The area is blessed with two active dance halls, Blase’s Hall and Sweet Home Community Center, and Pavlas’ Tavern in Moulton which has an outside dance area.

March 23 was National Ag Day, a time when producers, agricultural associations, corporations, universities, government agencies, and countless others across America gathered to recognize and celebrate the abundance provided by American agriculture. As the world population soars, there is even greater demand for the food, fiber and renewable resources produced in the United States. The La Grange Noon Lions and Leo Club appreciates the community for supporting their recent eyeglass drive. Over 150 pairs of glasses were collected which will be sent to the Texas Lions Eyeglass Recycling Center in Midland, where they will be cleaned and prepared for distribution to those in need. Now that the new elementary school is complete, La Grange ISD turns its attention to another big construction project. On Monday the La Grange ISD Board of Trustees approved the renovation of Leopard Stadium to include the installation of a new turf field and a new eight lane all-weather track.

The Fayette County Office of Emergency Management in conjunction with the Round Top-Warrenton Volunteer Fire Department and the Texas Military Division are distributing about 200 doses a day of the Johnson and Johnson coronavirus vaccine at the Warrenton Antiques Show this week.

Fayette County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested a man from the Jeddo area (in the far southwestern corner of the county)for criminal mischief and resisting arrest following a structure fire on the man’s property last Friday.
