Round Top-Carmine High School will hold its graduation ceremonies Friday May 28 at 7 p.m. at Festival Hill in Round Top.

Fayetteville High School will be the first county school to hold graduation ceremonies for their seniors, with their commencement set for this Friday, May 21, by invitation only. Valedictorian is Madelyn Karstedt, daughter of John and Bonny Karstedt.

Blinn opened its Schulenburg Campus in 1997 on the campus of the former Bishop Forest High School, but after 24 years, it’s longterm future isn’t certain. This Tuesday the Blinn College Board of Trustees will hold their regular monthly meeting and could take action on approving the school’s district wide facilities master plan.

The faith within a person can make anything possible, the love within a neighborhood can make things easier, but hope, well hope within a community makes it all come together. A huge part of that hope for the perfectly named Hope Hill community was done by Samaritan’s Purse and just this past week they wrapped up their 20th and final home at Hope Hill.

The other day I harvested about two-thirds of the onions I planted in the fall. I’m fairly pleased with the results, but I could have done better, I think.

Kurt and Corrie Scardino of Weimar are pleased to announce the birth of their child, a boy, born on Friday, April 9, in Houston. Garrett weighed seven pounds, nine ounces, and measured 20.5 inches long.

The Ellinger Volunteer Fire Department responded to a 911 dispatch on Friday, May 7 at 12:18 p.m. Upon arrival firemen discovered an 18 wheeler hauling gravel had overturned on FM 955 near Biegel Rd. This accident occurred only three days after the fatal crash on State Hwy 71 near Zapalac Road. The department will drill on Wednesday, May 19 at 7:30 p.m.

The Board of the Round Top Family Library (RTFL) is pleased to announce that the library has been selected as one of 300 libraries nationwide to participate in “Libraries Transforming Communities: Focus on Small and Rural Libraries.”

May 15 would have been Jack Hooper’s 20th birthday. Turtle Wing Foundation was founded in memory of Jack in 2011. The Hooper family’s experiences while raising Jack and his brother Will, who both were diagnosed with autism, led DeeAnn Hooper to create the foundation to support other families facing developmental & learning issues with their children. So much has happened in the last ten years.
