Turtle Wing Foundation Celebrates 10th Anniversary

May 15 would have been Jack Hooper’s 20th birthday. Turtle Wing Foundation was founded in memory of Jack in 2011. The Hooper family’s experiences while raising Jack and his brother Will, who both were diagnosed with autism, led DeeAnn Hooper to create the foundation to support other families facing developmental & learning issues with their children. So much has happened in the last ten years.

The foundation will be gathering to celebrate this anniversary on Saturday, May 15 at 11:30 a.m. The community is invited to come share in the last official day of the Grant Manier art show and enjoy a piece of cake at their new office space, which is located at 1203 S. Kessler Avenue in Schulenburg. In January, Turtle Wing relocated their offices next to the On Pointe Dance Studio in a building that used to be part of the old Stanzel model airplane factory. Through the generosity of the Gorman family, Turtle Wing has been hosting an art show featuring Grant Manier and his Eco-impressionism creations. This show was a part of Turtle Wing’s Autism Acceptance Month activities. Grant has been a friend of Turtle Wing Foundation for seven years now. The community has been blessed to watch him grow into a successful young man, artist, illustrator, and special needs advocate.

Turtle Wing Foundation provides Early Intervention, Supplemental Services, and Community Education & Advocacy programming to children and families with academic, socialemotional, behavioral, and/or developmental needs. Annually, over 300 children are receiving direct services with thousands more benefiting indirectly through education and advocacy work.
