Naked Suspect Arrested After Truck Stolen and Wrecked Into a Pond
Sheriff Keith Korenek reports on July 2 around 11 p.m. a report of a naked male subject walking on Old Lockhart Rd. near St. James Church Rd. was called in to dispatch office. Deputy Jared Michalec arrived in the area and located the male subject. The male subject advised he ran his vehicle into a pound but could not remember where, and that he took his clothes off because he was soaking wet. Deputies assisting Michalec searched the area and located a riding lawnmower abandoned on the side of the road but no truck in a pond.
The intoxicated male subject was identified as 56-year-old George Eric Nettles of Smithville who was arrested for public intoxication and transported to the Dan R. Beck Justice Center.
The next day a citizen reported he had a pickup truck in his pond on W. Lockhart Rd. and was missing his riding lawn mower. Deputy Michael Krenek met with the landowner who identified the lawnmower as his that was located five miles away and stated he as missing some tow straps and had property damage inside his building. Deputy Joe Gonzales assisted Krenek with recovering the property.
The pickup truck was removed from the pond and a warrant for burglary of a building has been issued to Nettles.
