KJT Pork Dinner
The Hostyn KJT Society No. 3 will hold their annual drivethru fundraiser on Wednesday, July 14 from 4 to 6 p.m. at the La Grange KC Community Center. The pork steak dinner will include buttered noodles, vegetable blend, peach half and a roll for $12 a plate. A bake sale will also be held to benefit the Hostyn and Plum Youth Group, with matching funds provided by the KJT Home Office. American Legion
The American Legion Post 102 and the American Legion Auxiliary Unit 102 will meet for their regular monthly meeting on Wednesday, July 14 at 6 p.m. at the VFW Home located at Veterans Memorial Drive in La Grange. Member attendance is encouraged. A light meal will be served following the meeting.
Young Farmers
Round Top-Carmine Young Farmers Family Night Social and meal for members and familes will be on Thursday, July 15 at 5:30 p.m. A silent auction and card raffle for scholarship funds will be held. Bring auction items and/or dessert. Text or call to RSVP to Emil (979) 966-2386.
Parkinson’s Support Group
The Parkinson’s Support Group of La Grange will hold its monthly meeting on the third Thursday of the month, July 15, from 10 to 11a.m. at the Randolph Recreation Center, 653 E. Pearl St. in La Grange. Due to summertime activity programs, the group will meet in a different room than usual. Enter the main entrance facing Pearl Street and someone will provide directions to the meeting. Guest speaker will be Loren Elizabeth Rawlings, a licensed professional counselor associated with Ponderado M Counseling Services. She specializes in work with anxiety, depression, and relationship issues. Patients who have been diagnosed with Parkinson’s, their caregivers, spouses, family members and basically anyone who would like to learn more about this devastating illness are welcome to attend. Movie Nights on the Square
Movie Night on the Square will be held on the Fayette County Courthouse lawn on Friday, July 16. Enjoy live music, snacks, and kids activities. The movie is Frozen II. The fun begins at 7 p.m. Bring a blanket and lawn chairs.
Food Bank Truck
The Central Texas Food Bank Truck will be at the Waldeck Lutheran Church located at Junction FM-1291 and FM-2145 on Friday, July 16 from 10 to 11 a.m. It will be drive-thru only and all clients are to remain in their vehicles. Someone will be there to direct traffic. Clients are advised to make room inside their car trunks and truck beds. Food boxes will be pre-packaged and placed into each vehicle by volunteers.
Winedale Texas Czech Communities
The next online Winedale talk will be on Saturday, July 17 at noon. Thadious Polasek, Blinn College instructor and the Schulenburg librarian, will present “Texas Czech Communities: Echos of the Homeland.” He will discuss the arrival and impact on Texas by the Czech. Jasek-Zatopek Reunion
The Jasek-Zatopek family reunion will be held Sunday, July 18 at St. Mary Catholic Church Hall in Ellinger. There will be a Mass at 8 a.m. in Ellinger and at 10 a.m. in Fayetteville. You can begin to arrive at 10 a.m. for registration. Lunch will be served at noon. Jasek and Zatopek descendants are welcome to come and enjoy a day filled with fellowship and good food.
Carmine VFD Feast & Fundraiser
The Carmine Volunteer Fire Department Annual Feast and Fundraiser will be held Sunday, July 18 with a drive-thru fried chicken dinner served from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. (or until sold out) at the Carmine Hall. Donations will be accepted as payment for the meal. For safety reasons with Hwy. 290, everyone is asked to utilize Thigpen Street (feeder road) to enter the “to go” line for the fried chicken dinner. There will be CVFD personnel to assist with directing traffic as well. Two lines will be formed on Celebration St. in an effort to move quickly. Each line will have a dessert tent at exit. Raffle tickets, while they last, will be sold along the lines for those that have not purchased tickets. Drawing for raffle tickets will be done at 3 p.m. and be live on the CVFD Facebook page.
Juneteenth Committee Meeting
The La Grange Juneteenth Committee will meet on Tuesday, July 20 at 6 p.m. The meeting will be held at the Randolph Recreation Center, West Wing, 653 E. Pearl St. Everyone is welcome
