Zombies, Participants Sought for Fundraiser

This Halloween will look a lot different this year in Fayette County … zombies will be on the loose and the only thing that will be able to stop them is a spooky, scary game of laser tag fun.

Join Fayette County Habitat for Humanity for their first Hab-o-ween zombie-themed laser tag event and screening of classic horror movies starting October 28 till October 31 from 5-9 p.m. at the Event Center and Exhibit Hall at the Fayette County Fairgrounds. Food will also be available.

Executive director of Fayette County Habitat for Humanity Kenny Couch said, “Most parents know that there aren’t a ton of things for kids to do in Fayette County so Habitat is excited to announce our first Hab-o-ween event. This year we’re focusing on laser tag and classic scary movies but we hope to grow the event in the coming years. I encourage volunteers to join us in building and running the event so they can get a chance to meet and get to know the Habitat crew.”

Lauren Almanza, secretary of Fayette County Habitat for Humanity and La Grange Elementary School principal, couldn’t agree more: “I am thrilled to take part in an event for kids and adults alike. We often hear that we need more things for our youth to participate in. Fayette County Habitat heard this and ran with the idea for laser tag. A fun experience right here in La Grange and the funds raised will benefit those right here in La Grange, too.”

So go to www.fayettecountyhabitat.org to get your tickets and there is also still time to sign up to volunteer to design and construct the laser tag arena and to play a zombie during the laser tag games. Zombie training classes are also available. The last day to sign-up to volunteer is October 26.

Below are the various intensity levels and game types for the event:

Intensity Levels

PG - Classic laser tag with scary music and no zombies or ghouls. Arena effects will include flashing lights and fog machines.

PG13 - Classic laser tag with zombies thrown in the mix. Arena effects will include flashing lights and fog machines. Zombies will move no faster than a brisk walk.

15+ - Classic laser tag with zombies thrown in the mix. Arena effects will include flashing lights and fog machines. Zombies may run!

Game Types

5v5 Team Match - Players will be split into two five person teams. The team with the most points at the end of their 15 minute round wins the game.

PvP Free for All - No teams! Players act independently of each other and nowhere is safe! The player with the most points at the end of their 15 minute round wins the game.

Campaign Mode -

PG - All players will play as one unit being led by an adult “team leader”. Players will move as a team clearing out zombies as they appear.

The team leader will warn players about approaching/upcoming zombies.

PG13 - All players will play as one unit being led by an adult “team leader”. Players will work as a team to clear the building of zombies and keep their team leader safe until the end.

Each round is 15 minutes long with a maximum of 10 players per round for $10 per player. Players who book every spot in an entire round may request a game intensity/mode change.
