Year-End Road and Bridge Reports

Precinct 3

In 2021, 7.828 miles of existing roads were hauled out with limestone, rebuilt, and repaved:

• Freyburg- Engle Rd 1.802

• Farek-Loth Rd 0.50

• Panorama Rd 0.516

• Salem Freyburg Rd 0.50

• Ehler-Grasshoff Rd 2.86

•Creamer Creek Rd 1.65

2.353 miles of road were chip sealed:

• Farek-Loth Rd 1.00

• Krenek-Stryk Rd 0.853

• Old Plum Hwy 0.50

We also seal coated roads in Bluff Haven: Molly Ln, Richard Rd, Carmer Ct, Chris Ct.

We did a lot of work in the Frisch Auf! Subdivision. In March 2021, we had a 1½” hot mix overlay applied to Rolling Hills Rd, Club View Dr, Valley View Dr, Rolling Hill Ct, and Oak Ct. The total cost was $95,820.00.

In April 2021, we hired RES Construction 66, LLC to construct a new bridge on Branecky Rd. Demolition and construction took two months at the cost of $103,200.00.

The bridge on South Knezek Rd over Mulberry Creek was replaced with the assistance of the TxDOT Off-Road System Program. The project started on August 16, 2021, and was completed on Dec. 12, 2021. The total project cost was $455,000. The County match was 10 percent at $45,500.

This opportunity is a lifesaver for the county’s citizens to partner with the TxDOT Off-Road System Program.

Equipment purchased in 2021:

Jan. 4, 2021 - Used 2016 International Prostar truck

May 6, 2021 - Used 2017 International Prostar truck

Both of these trucks replaced three old trucks; one needed an engine overhaul, and all of them had over 800,000 miles on them.

We also purchased a used 2019 Bomag Pad Foot Drum Roller and a 2021 John Deere 670G Motor Grader. In addition, we traded in a 1981 Catapillar and 1985 Catapillar Motor Grader.

Once again, mowing the ditches have been a challenge for us. Unfortunately, grass grew faster than we could cut it, but we will continue to mow into the new year.

We have milled six miles of road, hoping to get an early start on hauling limestone on them and paved as early in 2022 as we can. However, many more roads need maintenance, and we will continue to do our best.

Thank you to the men who work for Precinct 3.
