Wendish Heritage Society Holding Scholarship Meal Fundraiser Sunday

Texas Wendish Heritage Society Scholarship Fundraiser will have their annual Scholarship Fundraiser drive-thru only meal on Sunday, Jan. 23 at the Serbin Picnic Grounds. The menu will be grilled boneless chicken thighs, noodles, corn, green beans and pickles along with a bowl of Wendish Bird Wedding Soup. Cost is $12 per plate and tickets are pre-sale only.

Reserve your tickets by calling the museum at (979) 366- 2441 or email Museum@Texas-Wendish.org. Drive-thru will be from 10 a.m.-12:30 p.m.

Proceeds benefit the TWHS Scholarship Program. In 2021 there were thirteen Texas Wendish Heritage Scholarship recipients. A total of $15,000 was awarded.

Faith Lutheran High School

Faith Lutheran High School is waiving the registration fees for 2022-23 school year for any student that registers by March 11, 2022. Register early to take advantage of this savings. Call (979) 242-2889 or visit www. flhstx.org to receive registration materials.

FLHS is looking for people to add to their substitute list. If you enjoy working with students and are a patient person, contact Mrs. Kueck at kueckn@flhstx. org

Shadow days are a great opportunity for prospective students to follow us for a day and experience what FLHS is all about. Parents can contact the school at (979) 242-2889 to set up a shadow day for their child.

Everyone is invited to join FLHS each Wednesday morning at 10:30 a.m. for Chapel.

The Faith Lutheran High School Spring Raffle is just around the corner. The Board of Directors is currently looking for valuable items or monetary donations to be used in the raffle. Please contact Nikki Keuck at kueckn@flhstx.org if you have something to donate.

Condolences

Our sympathy to the family and friends of Roger Berger who passed away on Jan. 4. Roger was a nephew to Robert and Della Mae Lehmnann and cousin to David and Linda, and Doug and Lorie Lehmann.

Our sympathy to the family and friends of Evelyn Jurk who passed away on Jan. 12. Her funeral was held at Holy Cross on Tuesday, Jan. 18.

Holy Cross News

Services at Holy Cross Lutheran are Sunday at 9 a.m. Bible Class and Sunday school follows the morning service.

The sewing and quilting group at Holy Cross meets each Thursday, Jan. 6 from 9 a.m. until noon, in the old parish hall. Everyone is welcome to join them for a morning of sewing, cutting, laughter, fellowship and of course yummy goodies. You do not need to be a member of Holy Cross to join this fun group.

The ladies still collect all cancelled postage stamps, these are trimmed from their envelopes and sold to collectors. These can be dropped off at the church office, or in the designated box in the hallway.

The Bible Study Group at Holy Cross is currently doing a study on Sermon on the Mount beginning Wednesday, Jan. 5 at 6:30 p.m. This eight-week study, which will conclude before Lent begins, is an in-depth look at Jesus’ longest recorded message in the Bible. If you would like to join the group, please contact Cyndy Zoch at cyndy.zoch@ gmail.com or (979) 966-3166 so she can order a study guide for you. The cost of the study guide will be $15-18.
