Weather Disaster Declared Day Before More Treacherous Storms Move In

Fayette County Commissioners Court voted last Thursday to declare a state of disaster due the May 18 storm that produced a recently-confirmed tornado.

That declaration came a day before another powerful storm which tore through the County Friday night, May 28.

High winds Friday knocked down trees all over the county. Another round of significant rainfall that night also closed a number county roads, and even resulted in some high water rescues of motorists – a scene that has been much too common this month.

According to LCRA Hydromet another three inches fell on La Grange Friday (most of that in a 30 minute period). La Grange has now gotten 18.68 inches of rain during the month of May – a total we normally get over a 6-month span.
