Warda Team Wins First at Scholarship Cookoff
A crew from Warda won in the 1st Annual Gerald Birkelbach Scholarship Cookoff that was held June 12-13 in Giddings, great cause honoring a great barbecue legend.
Ashley Schmidt, Kristy Hentschel, Kylie Schmidt, Ryan Hentschel, Trey Melcher and Mason Becker were the team that won First Place Chicken, First Place Ribs and First Place Mystery Box.
Ordination Anniversary
Pastor Beck recently celebrated his tenth anniversary of his ordination into the ministry.
Camp Lost Pines
Camp Lost Pines in Warda will be hosted two shortened Summer Camps in June:
• Youth Camp (ages 12-17) was June 10-13.
• Kids Camp (ages 7-11) was June 17-20.

Vacation Bible School
There is still time for you to register your kids for Vacation Bible School at Holy Cross on June 28-30. This will be an evening Bible School for children 4 years through 5th grade and will be held from 5:30-8 p.m. with dinner being served. They would also appreciate any gently used Lego’s, building blocks, Lincoln Logs etc. as well as large cardboard boxes and kids building materials. You may bring these to the church office during the week.
St. Michael’s Annual Picnic
St. Michael’s Church in Winchester will be having their annual picnic on Saturday, June 19 at St. Michael’s Park in downtown Winchester. Activities will include a washer tournament at 4 p.m. A BBQ plate meal will be served from 5-6:30 p.m. and a live auction will start at 6:30 p.m. Drinks and snacks will be available starting at 3 p.m. Everyone is invited to come out and enjoy the afternoon.
Healing Hearts and Friends
The Healing Hearts and Friends Group in Warda has scheduled their next trip on Tuesday, June 29 to tour four of the Painted Churches. A docent will lead the tours of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Praha, Sts. Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church in Dubina, St. Mary’s Catholic Church in High Hill, and St. John the Baptist Church in Ammannsville. They will also be eating lunch in Schulenberg after the tour, contact Emily Matheson if you are interested in attending, or would like more information. Warda Couples Club
The Warda Couples Club would like to extend an invitation to younger couples and adults for a hamburger social on Friday, July 9 at the Holy Cross Picnic Grounds. Zoch Family Reunion
The Zoch Family 40th Biennial Reunion will be taking place on July 10-11 in Winchester. All descendants of Johann and Johanna (Schneider) Zoch and his brother Christian and Maria (Schneider) Zoch are invited. Holy Cross Picnic
Holy Cross will be having their church picnic this year. Mark your calendars for Labor Day weekend Sunday, Sept. 5. There will be lots of great BBQ, the ladies will have side dishes available and as always lots of great baked goods. An afternoon of music and a live auction are planned. Summer Camps
Faith Lutheran High School will offer youth summer camps this summer Ages are for grades next school year. Classes offered are: June 21-23, Art Camp (Grades K-6) $30; June 28-30, STEM Camp (Grades K-6) $30.

The sewing circle meets each Thursday from 9 a.m. to noon in the old fellowship hall. Everyone is welcome to join this group. You do not have to be a member of Holy Cross to join them.
