Waldeck Lutheran Church Picnic Slated May 23
Waldeck Lutheran Church is sponsoring their annual picnic on May 23. There will be a drive-thru meal catered by Texas One Stop in La Grange consisting of pulled pork, sausage, hot potato salad, pinto beans, and sauce. Tickets are $10. There will also be a drawing.
RT-C School News
Round Top-Carmine High School baseball team will play their last district game on April 30 when they play at Snook at 6:30 p.m.
Plans have been made for the end of year banquets. The FCCLA, FFA, and Jr. High and High School Awards banquets will be conducted during the school day, with no outside guests allowed. They will be filmed for parents and community members to view at their convenience. The Senior Academic Banquet will be held after the school day on May 18, with a ticket system to limit the number of guests. It will be livestreamed for parents and community members to view.
Carmine VFD
Carmine Volunteer Fire Department is sponsoring a hamburger drive-thru at the Fire Station on Sunday, May 16. Pick up is from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Advance only tickets are $10 and available from any firefighter and also at Carmine Feed & Fertilizer, Carmine State Bank, City Garage, and Creative Paws. Deadline to purchase tickets is Sunday, May 9.
For the annual Feast and Fundraiser on July 18, they will have a drive-thru fried chicken meal and also a drawing. Watch for more details.
Drill night will be May 13.
Carmine Lions Club
The Carmine Lions Club met on April 13 at JW’s Steakhouse. Lion Joe Franks, District 2-S5 First Vice-District Governor, was the guest speaker. A few more members were able to attend, and they are hoping to return to a normal schedule. The next meeting will be held on May 11 at 6:30 p.m. at JW’s.
The club will again give three scholarships to RT-C seniors.
They are hoping to have a celebration for the club’s 50th anniversary in February, 2022.
Decoration Service
The Carmine Cemetery Decoration Service will be held Sunday, May 16 at 2 p.m. at the cemetery.
Probst Casino Night
Carmine Chamber of Commerce will sponsor their Probst Casino Night with a German theme on Saturday, Aug. 14 at the Carmine Hall. They will be selling tables and individual tickets. Watch for more information.
MLLC News
Confirmation class meets Wednesday at 4:15 p.m. in the fellowship hall.
Saturday worship with Holy Communion is at 6 p.m.
Sunday School meets Sunday at 9 a.m. Sunday worship with Holy Communion at 10 a.m.
The service will also be on the mllccarmine.com website. The Rev. David Tinker is the pastor.
Worship Committee meets Tuesday at 4:30 p.m.
Recycling Trailer
The recycling trailer is at the Carmine Hall on Thursdays from noon until 4 p.m.
Dry newspapers, telephone books, magazines, cardboard, paper, junk mail, clean no. 1 and no. 2 food grade plastics (milk cartons should be separated from other plastic), all colors glass, steel food cans, and aluminum cans are accepted. Attendants are available to help unload.
They kindly ask that you please wait to drop off items when they are open. It is very helpful to have the recycled items separated.
The trailer is in Ledbetter from 8:30-11 a.m., also on Thursdays, behind the Ledbetter Fireman’s Hall.
Visitors’ Center
Carmine Chamber of Commerce Visitors’ Center at the restored Train Depot is open on the second and fourth Fridays and Saturdays of the month from 10 a.m.-2 p.m.
