Move Will Come After Six Years as Superintendent, 38 Years as LGISD
Monday La Grange school Superintendent William D. (Bill) Wagner informed the board of his intent to retire as of Thursday, June 30, 2022.
His plan is to vacate the office on May 27, 2022 to allow for the new superintendent to begin operations on June 1, 2022.
In his letter to the board of trustees at Monday’s meeting he said, “I would like to personally thank each one of you for allowing me to serve La Grange ISD the past six years in the role of superintendent. I have truly enjoyed my 38 years in La Grange ISD and I feel blessed to have had a career in education that spanned a total of 45 years. I have enjoyed working closely with all the board members during my tenure in the district. I am proud of our accomplishments and thank you for the leadership you have provided for the district.
“I have been very fortunate and feel most humbled to have been able to work alongside so many great educators over the years. The hard work, dedication, and professionalism of the faculties and staffs over almost four decades made this job so rewarding. The success La Grange ISD has experienced is a direct result of the administrators, teachers, and staff that have been committed to the students of this district over the years.
“Education is not about the past, it is about the future. Time moves on and I look forward to La Grange ISD growing and prospering. I truly believe the best years lie ahead for this district. I wish everyone associated with the district continued success. Thank you again for believing in me and allowing me to serve in the best superintendent role in the State of Texas.”
