Two Injured in Foggy Morning Crash Wednesday on Hwy 71

A multi-vehicle crash occurred in heavy fog on SH 71 near the Bastrop County line in Kirtley Wednesday, Jan. 7, around 6 a.m. The wreck happened at the intersection of North Kirtley Rd. Fayette County EMS reports that two people suff ered inju ries and were taken to Ascension Seton Hospital in Smith ville. First responders shut down one of the westbound lanes dur ing the cleanup. The lane reopened around 8 a.m.
