Two Caught Trying to Steal Metal at Winkler’s

Fayette Sheriff Keith Korenek reports that on November 5, at approximately 3:16 a.m., Fayette County Sheriff’s Deputy Mosqueda was dispatched to Winkler’s Electric at 1513 U.S. Highway 77 North in Schulenburg in reference to a reported theft in progress.

The Schulenburg Police Department was the first to arrive on scene and quickly Deputy Jose Mosqueda arrived on scene.

Officers located a suspect walking around the property and detained him quickly without incident. The subject was identified as 21 yr old Jovany Mendez-Salazr of Austin Texas. Inside the truck on scene Deputy Mosqueda observed multiple A/C coils, radiators, and miscellaneous copper and aluminum items that were stolen. Mendez-Salazr admitted he had driven by the location, noticed the materials, and decided to take them.

Deputy Mosqueda subsequently placed Jovany Mendez- Salazr under arrest for felony theft of materials copper aluminum and transported him to the Dan R. Beck Center without incident.
