Traffic Stop Leads to Arrest of Wanted Colorado County Man

Fayette County Sheriff Keith Korenek reports that on the morning of Sunday, May 2, around 11:30 a.m. Deputy Ryan Meagher conducted a traffic stop on a 2008 Chrysler 300 on FM 2436 near Kallus Rd. for a traffic violation.

After contact was made with the driver and passenger a driver’s license check advised the driver had an outstanding warrant for a probation violation for tampering with fabricating physical evidence with intent to impair out of Colorado County. After the warrant was confirmed the driver was placed under arrest.

A search of the vehicle resulted in the location of a Taurus 380 handgun loaded with five rounds.

The juvenile passenger was released to his mother and the driver, 33-year-old Michael Lee Aguilar of Columbus, was transported to the Dan R. Beck Justice Center and charged with the outstanding warrant and unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon.
