Thanksgiving Skid Steer Theft Solved

The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office released this photo of the skid steer that was allegedly stolen by a pair of local teens. Deputies recovered the machine on Thanksgiving day.

Fayette County Sheriff’s Deputies recovered a stolen skid steer on Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 25. They also arrested two teens suspected of stealing the machine. According to a report from Sheriff Keith Korenek, officers received information about a Takeuchi skid steer that was taken from property on US Hwy. 77 near La Grange. The report said Deputies Rick Martell and Michael Krenek responded to property on Blankenburg Ln. off FM 609.

“Deputies confronted two individuals who admitted to stealing the skid steer, which was located on the Blankenburg Ln. property,” the report said.

The report identified the suspects as 18-year-old Justin Lewis and 17-year-old Logan Herdler, both of La Grange. The deputies arrested the two teens and transported them to the Dan R. Beck Justice Center in La Grange. They face charges of felony theft.

The skid steer was returned to the owner, the report said.
