Thanksgiving Celebration in Fayetteville
The Hechler-Walla and Sula families and friends celebrated Thanksgiving in the all-purpose building behind the home of Doris Hechler. Around 10 dogs and their 19 human companions all joined in the traditional celebration that began in the outdoor facility back in 1999.
“It’s a great gathering place for family and friends and even their dogs. We really look forward to it. Way back when, Father Ben and his brother Father Harry would come and join us. We hope to do it for a few more years (health and age providing) and hope that our children and their children continue the tradition.”
Her parents, Hattie and Edmond Becak, originally moved to the home located down the road from St. Mary’s in 1960. Doris began visiting as a child. Her and her husband Al (then owners) visited weekends. When Al retired approximately 30 years ago, they came more often. Doris and her son Paul now make the trek from Houston whenever they can.
Vacation Fun
Jerry and Bette Gips recently returned from a sunny family adventure in the British Virgin Islands aboard their son and daughter-in-law’s 42’ catamaran, “Allende.” Fellow residents Mike Clann and Linda Hudson joined in the excursion that included island hopping and snorkeling in crystal-clear Caribbean waters.
Country Christmas
There’s plenty of time to make plans to attend Fayetteville’s Annual Country Christmas celebration on Saturday, Dec. 11. A few of the festivities include the Annual Homes Tour, a lighted parade, Christmas carols sung by the Lions Club Choir and live music at St. Paul Lutheran church. Kindergartners Receive Book
The kindergarteners at Fayetteville ISD are thankful for our Fayetteville community. They were each given a book about Thanksgiving.
