Teen Motorcyclist Going 120 MPH Arrested Here

The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office impounded this Honda CBR race bike after arresting the operator for reckless driving in Schulenburg. A deputy observed the bike traveling in excess of 120 mph on Interstate 10 while lane-splitting past other vehicles.

The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office reports a deputy arrested a teen from Spring on Saturday for reckless driving on a motorcycle.

The Sheriff’s Office reports that approximately 8:30 p.m. on Nov. 29, a deputy was patrolling the eastbound lanes of Interstate 10 near Flatonia when a motorcycle with no license plate passed the deputy.

“Before the deputy could initiate a traffic stop, the motorcycle cut in front of another vehicle and then accelerated rapidly, speeding away from the area,” the report said. “The deputy observed the motorcycle lane-splitting past other vehicles and reaching speeds in excess of 120 mph, making it impossible to keep up safely.”

A Schulenburg police officer positioned near the Interstate 10 and US 77 intersection did not observe the motorcycle pass through the area. But then the deputy located the motorcycle parked at a travel center in Schulenburg. The deputy identified the motorcycle operator as Jason Burleyson, 18 of Spring.

The deputy arrested Burleyson for reckless driving and impounded the motorcycle, a 2004 Honda CBR race bike. The deputy also determined that Burleyson did not have the required motorcycle endorsement on his driver’s license.

The Sheriff’s Office wished to thank the Schulenburg Police Department for their assistance.
