Tax Rates Set

Fayette County Commissioners voted unanimously last Thursday to set the 2021 property tax rate at $0.464 per $100 of value.

That’s the same rate as last year, although it will generate about $16.397,611. That’s an increase of $575,654 over last year, or about 3.6 percent. The increase comes from rising property values and new construction in the County.

The average homestead value in the County in 2021 is estimated at $191,345, a 3.3 percent increase from 2020. County property taxes on the average homestead in 2021 is estimated at $887.84, a 3.3 percent increase over last year.

The La Grange City Council voted on Monday to set the 2021 property tax rate of $0.2093 per $100 of value. That rate will generate $766,764 in revenue for the City, a 2.5 percent increase over last year.

The average homestead value in the City of La Grange in 2021 is estimated at $150,897, a 3.36 percent increase from 2020. La Grange property taxes on the average homestead in 2021 is estimated at 315.83, an increase of 3.36 over last year.

The La Grange property tax rate has remained the same since 2011, when the Council lowered the rate from $0.2163.
