Swiss Alp Twister Rated EF-1

After experiencing active weather across Central Texas last week, the National Weather Service has confirmed details on the tornado in Fayette County from Tuesday, May 18.

At 6:42 p.m., an EF-1 tornado occurred near Swiss Alp just west of Highway 77 and lasted for approximately 10 minutes. Peak winds were estimated to be around 100 mph.

EF-1 tornadoes are considered to be weak systems with peak winds ranging from 86 to 110 mph. The path of the tornado was 3.34 miles with a width of 400 yards and moved northeast.

The National Weather Service mentioned the tornado became a multi-vortex system as it crossed Highway 77.
