Survey Going Out About Food Needs in Fayetteville
The Greater Fayetteville Chamber of Commerce will conduct a local food survey in Fayette and Colorado Counties in the coming new year. The survey will be sent to residents in both counties on Jan. 15.
“This all started when we lost one of the two gas stations in Fayetteville, and a few years ago we lost the only grocery store we had,” said Paula Balbontín, who is helping the Chamber conduct the survey. “So with those two things, the Chamber thought we needed to do something to support the small food businesses.”
Balbontín said the survey aims to find out what kind of food options people want and also document the number and types of food producers in the area.
The survey is being funded by contributions from the Fayetteville Economic Development Corporation along with a grant from the Texas Center for Local Food.
“It’s going to be asking people about their food habits, interests and needs,” Balbontín said.
Balbontín said the Fayetteville Chamber decided to include both Fayette and Colorado counties in the survey since the two counties are so intertwined. The surveys will go out in the mail on Jan. 15. The deadline to complete the survey is March 15.
