Stray Gathering Kicks Off Fall Season With Team Roping Sept. 18
The Stray Gathering Cowboy Church is beginning a busy fall season beginning with a Friday Team Roping on Sept. 18 at the Fayette County Sheriff Posse Arena. If roping is your thing here’s your chance to rack up some buckles. For information on the event please contact Butch Murphy at (281) 3807788.
Then on Saturday Sept. 19 the men will be gathering at 7:30 a.m. for a Men’s Breakfast and Bible study. All area men are invited to come out and enjoy a great breakfast and some wonderful Christian fellowship.
SG2C are also planning a Turkey Shoot on Sept. 26. There will be the chance to win a Golden Boy rifle. What fun that would be? Start practicing now.
Just around the corner is the 4th Annual Fall Round Up at the SG2C Fall Round Up on Saturday, Oct. 3 from 10 a.m.4 p.m. Not only will there be lots of fun games and activities, but there will be a chuck wagon lunch will be available for a free will donation.
Some of those fun activities being planned are pony rides, a general store for your perusing; cake walk and so much more including a heifer raffle. Chances are available from any SG2C member for $20.

Celebrates Birthday
Kathy Chlumsky had a little adventure. Grandson Marcus Williams celebrated his sixth birthday recently. Kathy got picked up by their oldest daughter and grandsons, Hunter and Conner on the way to the skate/water park. She got to spend some wonderful time with the grandkids and catch up on all the summer activities all while enjoying some delicious cake.
Out and About
John and Debra Schwartzenburg enjoyed a weekend of family. John’s brother, Irvin Schwartzenburg of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, had a conference in Houston, so he and his wife Kayleen came out to stay for the few days. John cooked burgers and they were joined by Debra’s sister, Julie Speed and her son in law Jason Guerrer of Houston. Also coming in for the family gathering were some more of John’s family David and Beverly Schwartzenburg of Waco; Frank Schwartzenburg of Kerrville and the Schwartzenburg girl, Nada Burns and husband Ted came over. There was lots of traveling down memory lane, especially down the high school memories. Julia and David figured out they graduated within a year of each other.
Roberta Gullick enjoyed having her brother, Roger Mitchell come from Shidler, Oklahoma for a visit and to do some little jobs around the place. They did lots catching up while getting the work done and they took the time to go by cemeteries to visit the graves of loved ones. Roberta and Roger also took the time to go by and see what is left of their grandparents’ farm in Ellinger where they spent many summers picking cotton.
Recently Ron and Pam Knotts drove to Round Rock to see a baseball game at Dell Diamond. Every year they have talked about going to the games and something always seems to come up to prevent it. This year’s season was coming to an end, so they got on line and bought tickets and hit the road. It was a Sunday game that started at 1 p.m. so hotdogs were the first order of business. The stadium has lots of interesting food choices but Hot dogs are classic baseball fare. Their seats were located on the second row on the third base side. There were very few people there on such a hot summer afternoon and just as Ron and Pam got seated, a stadium helper came by and suggested they move up into the shade at the top of their section. It was such a wonderful and very welcome solution to the blazing sun. And the view was great too. The Round Rock Express were playing the Albuquerque Isatopes and it was an action-packed game eventually won by the Express. This fun filled, old fashioned baseball experience will be repeated next year for sure.
