October Proclaimed Czech Heritage Month Here

Fayette County Judge Dan Mueller, along with the rest of the commissioners court, signed a proclamation Thursday designating October as Czech Heritage Month in Fayette County.

Several members of the Fayette County Chapter of the Czech Heritage Society and members of the Texas Czech Heritage and Cultural Center were in attendance to take a picture with the commissioners and the proclamation.

That proclamation detailed how there “are close to one million people of Czech Heritage living in all areas of the State of Texas ... and Fayette County is considered to be the cradle of Czech immigration to Texas and the Czech citizens of this county are proud of their heritage.”

The proclamation also stated that “2026 marks the 39th anniversary of the Fayette County Chapter of the Czech Heritage Society in Texas, and the 29th anniversary of the incorporation of the Texas Czech Heritage and Cultural Center.”
