Some parts of Fayette County got as much as seven inches of rain from Friday-Sunday.
The rain was welcome, but it’s impact left many locals scrambling.
The MS 150 bike ride that was set for Saturday was cancelled because of the weather. About 350 riders had been set to start the one-day Multiple Sclerosis fundraising ride from the Fayette County Fairgrounds, while thousands of others had been scheduled to start from other parts of the region, all going to Kyle Field in College Station. MS 150 officials also advised riders that morning against trying to do the ride on their own.
The Kyla Faith Memorial Rodeo events were cancelled because of the weather but the musical entertainment was moved to the Fair Pavilion.
Numerous local baseball and softball games were postponed or shifted to drier locales.
Friday morning a tree fell across Highway 77 on the bluff causing some to detour through Frisch Auf! but a smaller tree branch on Country Club Dr. was also blocking part of the road at the same time. – Jeff Wick
