St. Rose of Lima Catholic School Begins 132nd Year
The St. Rose of Lima Catholic School family gathered on Monday, Aug. 9 in the St. Rose Church for the annual Back to School Orientation and Open House. The event began at 5 p.m. and included a welcome and blessing by new pastor Father Scott Hill, introduction of faculty and staff, distribution of family information packets and an opportunity to meet support organization officers, teachers and visit classrooms. There were several new faces which included an increase of 11 new students.
The first class day at St. Rose was Thursday, Aug. 12 and included a school family Mass at 10 a.m. that morning. St. Rose of Lima Catholic School places faith formation as the most important building block of all we do. Beginning its 132nd year St. Rose is proud to be providing an excellent Catholic education for students since 1889 that combines academic principals and moral values with a commitment to educating the whole child, mind, body, and soul. St. Rose School is accredited by the Texas Catholic Conference of Bishops Education Department which is recognized by TEA. The school is one of over 7,000 Catholic schools in the United States and there are over two million students across the country benefiting from a Catholic education.
Building strong connections, social/emotional skills, and a school family has always been a priority at St. Rose and continues to be a major focus for faculty, staff, students and families. Brain research indicates for optimal learning a child must feel safe and connected. Morning greetings, school wide assemblies, consistent rituals, procedures and routines are just some of the ways the school is working to build a strong sense of cooperation and community. Extra-curricular programs provide opportunity to learn teamwork and sportsmanship. Consistency in curriculum, vertical alignment, and teaching as Christ did with love and support while modeling Christian Discipleship makes St. Rose of Lima Catholic School a unique choice in education.

With 381 years of combined teaching experience and 204 of those years at St. Rose School, a TCCBED Teacher of the Year, Reader’s Choice Teachers and Staff, and highly qualified teachers, it is a true testament to the commitment, dedication and belief in the great things that are happening at St. Rose. Four teachers and one aide on staff are former graduates of St. Rose School, bringing their passion for Catholic education to a new generation of students.

St. Rose of Lima Catholic School admits all qualified students regardless of sex, race, religion or national or ethnic origin. A child must be three years of age on or before Sept. 1 to enter the 3K program. A child must be four years of age on or before Sept. 1 to enter the 4K program. A child must be five years of age on or before Sept. 1 to be admitted into kindergarten.
