St. John Roast Beef Dinner Sunday In Ellinger
St. John Lutheran Church of Ellinger, located at the corner of W. Fayette St. and Grover St., will be sponsoring its annual Roast Beef and Sausage Dinner on Sunday, Oct. 10. Peter’s BBQ will be catering the meal. Sides and desserts will also be served.
Plates for the to go only/ drive thru meal will be $12 per plate. Plates may be picked up from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Tickets can be purchased in advance by contacting Lucille Koehl-(979) 966-7710; Sharon Fritsch-(979) 966-3515; Gladys Koehl-(979) 966-7751; or any member of the St. John Congregation.
There will be a limited number of tickets at the drive thru, so get your advanced tickets.
Fayetteville Brethren Church
Fayetteville Brethren Church has services the second and fourth Saturdays of each month at 10 a.m. Other services are at Industry Brethren on the second, third and fourth Saturdays at 5 p.m., Wesley Brethren on Sundays at 9 a.m. and Nelsonville Brethren on Sundays at 10:15 a.m. Rev. Mike Groseclose leads all the services. The Nelsonville service is live streamed on Nelsonville Brethren’s Facebook page.
Ellinger City Commissioners
The Ellinger City Commissioners will meet on Thursday, Oct. 28 at 7 p.m.
Ellinger Sewer and Water
The Ellinger Sewer and Water Supply Corporation will hold its regular monthly meeting on Monday, Oct. 11 at 7 p.m. at the Ellinger Fire Station.
Ellinger C of C
The Ellinger Chamber of Commerce will hold its regular monthly meeting on Tuesday, Oct. 12 at 7 p.m. at the C of C Dining Hall. They will be finalizing plans for the Chicken Noodle Soup and Bake Sale scheduled for Sunday, Oct. 31.
St. John Lutheran Church
The Council of St. John Lutheran Church of Ellinger met in mid September. It approved the minutes for Aug. 10 and 23; the August treasurer’s report was also approved.
Gladys Koehl is researching the purchase of new red altar paraments. Plans for the annual October fundraiser were discussed; Council approved sending six tickets to KVLG and KULM for promoting the fundraiser.
The slab, ramp, and driveway work behind the fellowship hall has gotten underway. Sunday, in person-worship is at 8 a.m. with communion in the pews and masks optional. Lucille Koehl reminded Council that a breakfast worship was scheduled for Sunday, Oct. 3 and that Council would provide the breakfast. St. John Ellinger would have a bake sale on Oct. 23-24, at Warrenton during the Antique Fair; they will park cars Oct. 25-26. A SLM joint worship has been scheduled at Ellinger on Nov. 7 - All Saints Day.
Attend State Fair
Brandon, Carissa, and Rheagan Karisch attended the State Fair of Texas in Dallas on Tuesday Sept. 28-30. Rheagan showed her steer, Midnight, and although she did not win any awards this trip she gained a lot of experience and got to enjoy family time at the fair.
