Spring Woman Arrested After Shooting Near Ledbetter
The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office assisted Washington County Sheriff’s deputies with arresting a woman following a shooting spree on Monday afternoon.
The Washington County Sheriff’s Office reports that at approximately 1:26 p.m., deputies responded to a shots fired call in the 1300 block of Wildwood Road. The victim reported a female suspect was on the property and shooting towards their residence while she and her three-year-old grandson were inside.
During the investigation, a bullet hole was located in the rear of the house as well as in a tire on the victim’s vehicle. The suspect left the scene prior to the deputies’ arrival however the caller was able to provide a description of the suspect’s vehicle.
A traffic stop was conducted on the vehicle at US 290 West near FM 180 west of Ledbetter. The suspect was taken into custody with assistnce from the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office.
After conferring with the district attorney’s office, the suspect was transported to the Washington County Jail for booking. Gena Gay Sanders, 61, of Spring was charged with criminal trespass with deadly weapon, deadly conduct discharge firearm, abandon/ endanger child imminent danger bodily injury, and aggravated assault with deadly weapon.
Texas Department of Public Safety also assisted.
The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office reports that Sanders could face additional charges here for gunshots that may have been fired at a victim in Fayette County.
No one was injured in the shooting.
