Spirited Spirits in La Grange

In this monthly series, local realtor Andrea Schutter Riebeling does a Q & A with local business leaders about what inspires them. This month’s spotlight is Grace Pulkrabek and Larry Glass, owners of LG Sprits.

1. What is your business?

A package store that strives to support the community. We have had several fundraisers in addition to supporting non-profits such as Ducks Unlimited.

2. How did you get started?

On a whim. Grace and I had discussed the possibility years before and about the time I retired the opportunity to pursue that dream became a reality. In all honesty we were both naïve about starting a business.

3. How long have you been in business?

7 ½ years.

4. Type of products?

Full line of spirits and an expanding selection of wine and craft beers.

5. Uniqueness about store?

The drive-thru. You can have your beverage and be back on the road in less than a minute. And our selection of spirits.

6. Background?

Larry worked as a registered electrical engineer and Grace was working full-time for CVCT and part-time at another liquor store. Her experience was a major reason for our success.

7. Advice for others? Have a good partner and

Have a good partner and expect everything that can go wrong will go wrong ... on the same day!

8. Education? Absolutely! A fundamental

Absolutely! A fundamental understating of good business practices and accounting fundamentals is a must.

9. Love about La Grange? La Grange is not what cities

La Grange is not what cities between La Grange and Austin are migrating toward.

10. What makes you laugh?

Our sign sayings! My favorite is, “I always drink upstream from the herd!” In fact some of the best sayings are suggested by our customers, and without our customers we wouldn’t exist.
