Sounds of the Season at Festival Hill Dec. 6
Saturday, Dec. 6, the Blinn College Wind Symphony and Choirs will perform “Sounds of the Season” beginning at 3 p.m. Tickets are $10 and may be purchased through Blinn College.
Christmas Activities
The Christmas festivities are kicking off on Saturday, Dec. 6 in Round Top. Many shops will be open for Christmas shopping beginning at 10 a.m. and will stay open late through the evening.
Homes Tour
The Round Top Area Historical Homes Tour starts at 11 a.m., and lasts until 5 p.m. You may purchase tickets ahead of time or on the day of, however keep in mind that only a certain amount of tickets will be sold. Old Time Christmas
Enjoy an “Old Time Christmas on The Square” by the DoYour Duty (DYD) Club beginning at 3 p.m. There will be home cooked beef stew, hot chocolate, coffee, and cookies, as well as a Book Walk, drinks and games provided by the Waldeck Show Fund.
You’ll also get the chance to hear live music from The Guitar Men, The RT-C High School Band, and the Round Top Christmas Brass Band.
Lighted Christmas Parade The Lighted Christmas Parade begins at 6:15 p.m. One of the floats to be on the lookout for is the DYD club’s. The float boasts a replica of the Round Top courthouse, built by Larry Birkelbach, also known as the master carpenter responsible for building Festival Hill’s auditorium. Be on the lookout for it this year.
Christkindlemarket
The Compound’s Christkindlemarket is also happening this weekend. This Europena- inspired market features artisan vendors, food, music, and plenty of holiday cheer. The inaugural event benefits the Round Top – Carmine Schools. More information can be found at roundtopcompound. com.
Zapp Hall Christmas Show The Zapp Hall Christmas Show will be Dec. 5-7. Browse a selection of dealers, enjoy tasty food, and listen to great music. Saturday, Dec. 6, a enjoy a ticketed show in the beer gardent featuring Glen Templeton and Matt Caldwell. More information can be found at roundtop.com. Round Top Family Library The Library is once again hosting their Christmas celebration
Saturday, Dec. 6. Beginning at 10 a.m., guests can enjoy Christmas treats, arts and crafts, and pictures with Santa Claus. This is a fun morning for the whole family. Visit ilovetoread.org for details.
Round Top-Carmine ISD The final FFA meeting of 2025 will be Dec. 3 at 6:30 p.m. Enjoy a band concert Monday, Dec. 8 at 6 p.m. Midterm testing will be Dec.16 and 17. Students have an early release on Friday, Dec. 19 to kick-off Christmas break, Classes are out for the remainder of December and students will return Wednesday, Jan. 7.
Round Top Rifle Hall
Round Top Rifle Hall Monday night hamburger socials are the first, second and third Mondays of each month. Doors open at 5:30 p.m.
Bethlehem Lutheran Church Bethlehem Lutheran Church meets for worship Sundays at 9:30 a.m. The Church’s Christmas Tree will be decorated Nov. 30 following the worship service. All are welcome to help. The Praise Team will be providing music for the Ledbetter Lane of Lights Friday, Dec. 5. Enjoy donuts and coffee from 8:30-9 a.m. on Sunday, Dec. 7 in the Educational Building. Bring a friend to enjoy the fellowship and to attend the service. The Sewing Circle will meet Tuesday, Dec. 9 at 9:30 a.m. This year’s Christmas program is Sunday, Dec. 14. If your child would like to be a part of the program please contact Stacy Eilers.
St. Paul Lutheran Church St. Paul Lutheran Church in Shelby services are at 8 a.m. Fellowship, Coffee, and Sunday School follow at 9:30 a.m. Game Day is held the first Wednesday at 2 p.m. Quilting is held the third Wednesday at 8:30 a.m. Enjoy an evening of old-time Christmas caroling Sunday, Dec. 14 at 5:30 p.m. in the old church building on Skull Creek Road in Shelby. Bring a flashlight, refreshments to share, and a blanket if it’s cold weather.
St. Martin’s Catholic Church St. Martin holds monthly Mass the first Tuesday of each month at 8 a.m. for the intentions left on the altar.
St. John’s Lutheran Church St. John’s is part of the Shared Lutheran Ministry of Fayette County. They meet for Sunday Worship at 8:30 a.m.
Christian Fellowship
Round Top Church meets at 8:45 a.m. for Bible Study, followed by a 10 a.m. service.
St. Cecilia’s Episcopal Church Saint Cecilia’s meets Sundays at 8:45 a.m. and 10:45 a.m. at the Haw Creek Chapel in Henkel Square.
Round Top Hermann Sons The Round Top-Shelby Hermann Sons met Nov. 20 at the American Legion Hall near Round Top. President, Linda Mattocks, called the meeting to order with the Pledge of Allegiance. All officers were present, as was one new member.
A check will be presented to the Ledbetter VFD with proceeds from the Legion’s Country Store at the Dec. 14 Christmas party.
The combination of the Round Top and Shelby Lodges brings the total membership to 640, and allows for 3 delegates to attend the convention coming up April 27-28 in San Marcos.
Community coordinator Melanie Rauch sent Halloween and Thanksgiving cards to five members.
The Christmas party will have a catered meal of hamburger steak with gravy, mashed potatoes, green beans, slaw and tea. Members may bring a dessert item, and a $15 gift for afternoon games, as well as a donation for CASA. The Lodge will also make a financial contribution to CASA.
Lila Garlin will be the chairman of the decorating committee. Lana Limmer and Betty Porter will oversee the games.
The officers for next year will be Lila Garlin - President, Myrt Meinkowsky - Vice President, Jeanette Schoenst - Secretary, Mary Rauch Treasurer, Melanie Rauch Community Coordinator, and Pearlie Wagner will be added to the Finance Committee with Betty Porter and Margie Stardig.
The April and October meetings will be at Shelby hall; dates will be decided later.
“Get well” wishes were sent to a member who just had surgery. Reports were heard about other members. Congratulations to Wayne and Pearlie Wagner on their 59th wedding anniversary this Thanksgiving, Nov. 27.
Attendance prizes were won by Carmean Ebner, Lana Limmer, Myrt Meinkowsky, Earl Fenske and La Verne Albers.
Everyone enjoyed refreshments and a meal of chili with all the trimmings and various desserts. Next meeting will be with the Christmas party on Sunday, Dec. 14, at 11 a.m., with the meal served at 12:30 p.m.

Happy birthday wishes are extended to Kori Weyand-Nov. 29, Aiden Clemons-Dec. 1, Kate Eilers and Lisa Mayer-Dec. 2, and Amy Bone -Dec. 5.
