Smitley Places at Miniature Hereford Southern Showdown

Bristol Smitley showed her mini hereford “Lil Red” at the Texas Miniature Hereford Southern Showdown in Bryan at the Brazos Expo Center recently and placed 3rd at the event.

She is the daughter of Madison Krenek and Travis Smitley of Willow Springs and the granddaughter of Stephen and Nicole Krenek of Ellinger. (see photo)

Blood Drive

The Knights of Columbus Council 3168 will be sponsoring a blood drive on Saturday, Jan. 16 on the Fayetteville town square from 8 a.m. to noon. To sign up, contact Jonathan Noska at (979) 966-9569.

Hope Healthy Food

Central Texas Food Bank’s HOPE program will distribute groceries to clients age 55 and up on Friday, Jan. 15 from 2-3 p.m. at the St. John Catholic Recreation Center.

It’s a Girl

Donna and Jack Cashion are the great-grandparents of a girl born Dec. 17 in Atlanta, GA. She is the daughter of Josh and Pyper Juarez and was named Charlie Madeline and weighed 7 1/2 pounds and was 20 inches long. Charlie’s mother is a member of the Air Force stationed in Atlanta and the family will be visiting with the Cashions when she relocates in March.

Married On Square

A wedding was held at the Fayetteville Gazebo on Friday, Jan. 1 when Jeff Cashion of Fayetteville wed Mary Lola Harding from Seguin. Parents of the groom are Jack and Donna Cashion. Judge Sheila Coufal officiated at the ceremony. Close family and friends attended along with Jerry and Jeanette Brown who photographed the event. The bride was escorted to the gazebo in a horse drawn carriage. The couple honeymooned at the Grand Hotel.

Special Exhibit

The Red & White Gallery is presenting Laura Wilson’s exhibit “Looking West.” This exhibit is directly from the National Cowgirl Hall of Fame Museum in Ft. Worth. The entire exhibit is on display now in the gallery and online.

Laura is featured in Paper City’s premier issue of the Round Top magazine (January 2021 issue). Catherine Anspon’s three-page article is a terrific look at Laura Wilson-the artist and her work.

The gallery is currently open on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 102 W. Main St., Fayetteville. You may view this exhibit anytime by appointment with Joan at (713) 818-9766.

SLM Church Council

The Shared Lutheran Ministry council will meet on Tuesday, Jan. 19 at 5:30 p.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Warrenton. All the church councils will meet afterwards at 6:30 p.m.

Men’s Breakfast Meeting

The Men’s Breakfast meeting and Bible study meets every Saturday at Riverside Cafe in La Grange at 7:30 a.m. The Zoom meeting begins at 8 a.m. All men of the Shared Lutheran Ministry and the community are invited to attend and take part.
