Shots Fired Over Furniture Dispute in La Grange
La Grange Police Chief David Gilbreath Reports on the following incidents his department responded to for the week of March 7-14:
Deadly Conduct
March 13 - Meinardus responded to the 900 block of S. Madison where caller stated that she sent her brother-in-law and his friend to pick up furniture from her old home when her ex-boyfriend became angry and shot at them. Officer received statements from the two individuals who were shot at. Officer is continuing to investigate the incident.
Alarm
March 10 - Zwahr responded to an alarm in the 200 block of E. Colorado. Officer spoke with an employee who advised it was accidentally set.
Animal Complaint
March 9 - Animal Control Officer Dean Ahlschlager picked up a pitbull dog in the 300 block of Diers Lane and returned dog back to the owner.
March 10 - Ahlschlager checked on bees owner in the 700 block of E. Upperline.
March 10 - Ahlschlager checked on a black dog running loose in the 500 block of N. Logan. Owner will put the dog back in the yard.
March 11 - Zwahr spoke with a subject in the 100 block of W. Pearl about an animal complaint.
March 13 - Maxwell was dispatched to the 600 block of S. Meyer in regard to a loose dog. Officer was able to locate the dog and returned the dog back to the owner. A warning was issued.
March 13 - Wostarek was dispatched to One St. Mark’s Place in regard to several dogs running in the roadway. Officer upon arrival was unable to locate any dogs running in the area.
Accident
March 10 - Zwahr responded to a one vehicle minor accident at the intersection of N. Jackson and E. Travis.
Civil Matter
March 8 - Wostarek spoke with a caller in the 600 block of N. Washington on a civil matter.
March 9 - Wostarek was dispatched to the 800 block of S. Jefferson in regard to a civil matter.
March 11 - Patrolman David Mohr received a call to contact a citizen in reference to a civil matter. Officer advised the citizen to contact the justice of the peace.
March 13 - Wostarek spoke with a subject in the 1600 block of Jefferson in regard to a civil matter.
Criminal Mischief
March 8 - Wostarek was dispatched to the 500 block of W. Lafayette in regard to a subject that had kicked in complainant’s door. Officer arrived and spoke with several subjects and took information for an incident report.
Citizen Assist
March 7 - Zwahr assisted a citizen stranded at the boat ramp at the river bridge.
March 9 - Patrolman Brett Meinardus received a call from a citizen that requested the officer check his front door in the 400 block of N. 3rd Alley to ensure that he locked it. Officer checked the door and found that it was secure.
Disturbance
March 10 - Zwahr responded to a disturbance in the 700 block of Eckel. Officer took information for the report.
March 11 - Zwahr responded to the 300 block of Edgewood to a disturbance. Subjects were separated.
Fraud
March 9 - Wostarek was dispatched to the 1000 block of E. Camp in regard to fraud. Officer arrived on location and took information.
Juvenile Complaint
March 13 - Maxwell was dispatched to the 1900 block of W. State Highway 71 Business in regard to a juvenile complaint.
Loitering
March 9 - Patrolman Brian Adams was dispatched to the 300 block of S. Jackson in regard to a complaint of a person with a signboard approaching motorists. Officer located the subject and learned she was conducting an independent survey regarding a matter she stated that was to come before the school board. Subject was not violating any ordinances or traffic laws. Subject was cautioned of the high traffic area and call was cleared.
Possession
March 12 - Meinardus responded to the 1900 block of W. State Highway 71 Business where caller stated that they believed a subject was concealing items and attempting to steal them. Officer was asked to issue a criminal trespass warning and escort him from the business. During the course of the investigation narcotics were found on the subject.
Property Damage
March 13 - Wostarek was dispatched to the 200 block of Ellinger in regard to a damaged door. Officer arrived and spoke with several subjects about the damaged door.
Suspicious Person/Vehicle
March 9 - Wostarek was dispatched to the 800 block of E. Travis in regard to a suspicious person.
March 10 - Patrolman Kevin Currington responded to the 600 block of N. Madison for a suspicious person. The subject was just looking for her dog.
March 11 - Currington was dispatched to the 600 block of E. Walnut in reference to a suspicious vehicle. Vehicle was fine and was at the location to purchase a couch from the resident.
March 11 - Mohr received a call of a suspicious person located in the 200 block of Ellinger and upon arrival officer learned the subject wanted to rent a room for the night.
March 11 - Mohr received a call of a person screaming in the 400 block of N. Main. Upon officer’s arrival in the area he was unable to locate anyone in the area.
March 12 - Meinardus responded to the 500 block of S. Cindy Lane where caller stated that a white van was parked near her apartment. Officer ran the plates of the vehicle and it belonged to another occupant in the apartment complex.
March 12 - Currington responded to the 1600 block of N. Jefferson for a suspicious vehicle parked at a closed business. The subject in the vehicle had just pulled over because he was tired and on a long trip.
March 13 - Maxwell was dispatched to the 200 block of Ellinger in regard to a suspicious vehicle. Caller stated that several subjects exited the vehicle. Officer searched the area but was unable to locate anyone around the area.
Trespassing
March 8 - Wostarek was dispatched to the 1300 block of Highway 159 in regard to a subject that was trespassing. Officer issued subject a criminal trespass warning.
March 12 - Maxwell was dispatched to the 1700 block of E. State Highway 71 Bypass in regard to a suspicious male subject. Officer made contact with the subject. The subject was arrested for criminal trespassing and was transported to jail.
Welfare Check
March 12 - Wostarek was dispatched to the 100 block of S. Jefferson in regard to a welfare check. Officer arrived on location and spoke with a male subject. Subject advised all was fine.
Miscellaneous
March 8 - Patrolman Cari Haman investigated a juvenile complaint in the 900 block of E. Pearl.
March 12 - Mohr received a call of a person abusing the 911 line at the hospital. Officer arrived and met with individual and advised him to stop calling 911.
March 12 - Chief David Gilbreath spoke with a complainant in the 900 block of Helter about identity theft.
March 12 - Wostarek spoke with a subject in regard to credit card abuse in the 1600 block of Jefferson.
