Sheriff Reports on June Activities
Sheriff Keith Korenek reports activities of Fayette County Sheriff Deputies for the month of June.
Deputy Ben Wilson responded to a residence off of US Highway 77 near La Grange for a vehicle that struck a residence. The driver of the vehicle suffered from a medical condition and there were no injuries. Wilson also responded to an antique store in the Ledbetter area for a burglary. A report was taken and the investigation continues.
Investigator Marc Bennett identified and made arrests on four subjects responsible for criminal mischief to the Frisch Auf! Country Club golf course. Bennett is also investigating a stolen credit card from a deceased person. A suspect has been identified and the investigation continues.
Sergeant Ron Naumann responded to a disturbance between venders at the Round Top Antique gathering. One party involved in the disturbance was arrested on a warrant for assault from seven years ago.
Deputy Ryan Meagher stopped the driver of a vehicle on Interstate 10 near Schulenburg for expired registration. The driver of the vehicle refused to produce identification and was arrested for driving while license invalid and interference with public duties. Meagher also stopped the driver of a vehicle traveling east on Interstate 10 near Schulenburg for no front license plate. The driver of the vehicle was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana.
Deputy Terry Guentert spoke to a resident in the county in reference to a scam. The citizen was told that his grandson was in a jail in Mexico and requested money to be wired for him to be released.
Deputy A.J. Gonzales stopped the driver of a vehicle on Interstate 10 and located two kilos of methamphetamines. The driver was arrested.
Deputy Herman Olvera checked on a stranded motorist on Interstate 10 near Flatonia. Further investigation resulted in the occupant of the vehicle being arrested for possession of marijuana and a controlled substance. Olvera responded to property on Jeddo Road where a vehicle was broken into. A suspect was identified and arrested.
Deputy Austin Moore responded to a disturbance in the Engle area. One person was arrested for assault family violence. Moore also stopped the driver of a vehicle for a traffic violation on State Highway 71 near West Point. The driver was arrested for drug paraphernalia.
Deputy James Ulbig worked a single vehicle accident on State Highway 71 near West Point. The driver was found to be in toxicated and was arrested.
Deputy Rick Martell responded to an address in Fayetteville for a person trespassing. The person was located and arrested. Martell also responded to a residence in Clark’s Trailer Park for a wanted person. The person was located and arrested.
Deputy Joe Gonzales responded to a mailbox damage call on Cowan Road. Gonzales was able to identify suspects and will present the case to the County Attorney. Gonzales also responded to a residence off of Valenta Road for a disturbance. A male was arrested for assaulting a female.
Deputy Michael Krenek responded to a residence near La Grange for a person trespassing. The male was located and arrested for trespassing as well as an active assault warrant. Krenek also took a report of theft of copper near the La Grange area.
Deputy Tammy McCleney responded to a disturbance between an adult son and mother. The son possessed a warrant and was arrested. McCleney also responded to St. Mark’s Hospital for three people who suffered from injuries of shrapnel from an accidental discharge of a firearm into a concrete slab which occurred off of Egypt Road. Investigation resulted in the incident being accidental and no charges being filed.
Deputy Jared Michalec responded to a vehicle stuck in the median of State Highway 71 near Plum Church Road. The occupant of the vehicle was found to be intoxicated and was arrested. Michalec also stopped the driver of a vehicle on State Highway 71 near Krenek Road for traffic violations. Investigation resulted in the driver being arrested for possession of marijuana and methamphetamine.
Deputy Seth Nagel stopped the driver of a vehicle on State Highway 159 for a moving violation. Investigation resulted in the driver being arrested for possession of marijuana.
Deputy Orlando Buitron stopped the driver of a vehicle for speeding on State Highway 71 near Ellinger. The driver was found to be intoxicated and was arrested. Buitron also stopped another speeding motorist on State Highway 71 near Ellinger. Investigation resulted in the driver being arrested for possession of marijuana and a controlled substance.
Deputy Lee Phillips was dispatched to a suspicious person off of Dry Creek Cove in the Flatonia area. The person was located and found to be a local resident. Deputy Dustin Kieschnick stopped a driver of a vehicle on State Highway 71 for illegal window tint. The driver was found to be in possession of a controlled substance and a large amount of cash. The driver was arrested and charged with money laundering and possession of a controlled substance. The money was seized.
Jail Administrator Ed Sawyer reports that Fayette County Correction Officers booked in 82 individuals for the month of June and seven inmates were transported to TDCJ Facilities to begin serving time for crimes committed in Fayette County.
