Sheriff Reports on August Activity
Sheriff Keith Korenek reports activities of Fayette County Sheriff Deputies for the month of August.
Deputy AB Marroquin responded to a call for property damage near Round Top. The suspect was identified and an investigation is ongoing. Deputy Marroquin also responded to a burglary of a habitation near Cistern and an investigation is ongoing.
Deputy Jose Mosqueda responded to a disturbance in the 3000 Block of Pietsch Lane near La Grange. A male subject was arrested for assault family violence.
Deputy Jason Fowler responded to a residence on Old Plum Highway in reference to a disturbance. A male subject was arrested for assault family violence. Deputy Fowler also took a burglary report at a residence in the 2300 block of FM 609 near La Grange.
Deputy Joe Gonzales responded to Ander’s Bottom Road in reference to illegal dumping. A report has been completed.
Sergeant Duane Meagher attempted to stop a vehicle for a traffic infraction on US Highway 77 near La Grange. The suspect vehicle fled and was able to lose law enforcement ment Gid- until they entered Giddings. The suspect vehicle was then pursued by Lee County Law Enforcement but was able to get away. The vehicle has since been identified and an investigation is ongoing.
Deputy Herman Olvera responded to a residence in the 1700 Block of Burke Road in reference to an inquest. A report has been completed.
Deputy Cody Williams conducted several traffic stops that resulted in arrests of subjects with outstanding warrants.
Deputy Terry Guentert responded to a semi-truck fire on Interstate 10. The trailer was destroyed along with 39,000 pounds of chicken. A report has been completed.
Deputy Josh Jones conducted a traffic stop on Interstate 10 for a traffic infraction. A consent search was conducted, resulting in the male driver being arrested for possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. A female passenger was arrested on outstanding warrants.
Sergeant Ron Naumann attempted to stop a vehicle for a traffic infraction on State Highway 159 in La Grange. The vehicle failed to yield and fled from Sgt. Naumann. Narcotics were thrown out of the window during the pursuit. The subjects ditched the vehicle on Von Minden Road and were taken into custody after a short foot pursuit.
Traffic Deputy Duke Bohlmann assisted Sgt. Naumann with the vehicle pursuit and assisted with a motor vehicle accident on I-10 near the Gonzales County line.
Jail administrator Brad Neville reports that Fayette County Correction Officers booked 36 individuals for the month of August. Neville reports that the jail staff transported 8 individuals to Texas Department of Criminal Justice facilities throughout the State to serve their sentences for crimes committed in Fayette County.
