Dozens of first responders from at least 11 agencies assisted at the crash that injured eight people including five children in Altair on Saturday, July 31. The agencies on scene that day included Columbus Volunteer Fire Department, Eagle Lake VFD, Garwood VFD, Colorado County Sheriff’s Office, Colorado Count EMS, Department of Public Safety, EL Campo EMS, TxDOT, PHI Med 7 & 9, Air EVAC 47 and Life Flight.
Eight people including several with local ties were hospitalized following a horrific crash at the intersection of SH 71 and US 90-A in Colorado County.
A benefit has been organized in Rock Island later this month to assist members of the Gabler, Belota, Rocha and Navarro families who were injured in the wreck.
