Senior Connections Gearing Up For the Holiday Season
At Senior Connections, we warmly welcome all seniors aged 55 and up to gather at our three locations in Schulenburg, Weimar, and Flatonia. Whether you’re looking to enjoy a cup of coffee, engage in games, or chat with friends, our doors are open from 9 a.m. - 2 p.m. every day.
Our dedicated board members are currently preparing for an exciting New Year’s Eve fundraiser at Freyburg Hall. Join for a festive evening filled with delicious food, great music, a live auction, and a thrilling whiskey wall. We will also have fireworks to ring in the New Year. If you’re interested in supporting Senior Connections, table sponsorships and donations are greatly appreciated as we head into the holiday season. “Our Paddle Up” will have a special theme this year.
Monday, Nov. 17 in Schulenburg is Cookie Round Up Day. If you enjoy baking, we would love for you to bring cookies for us to share with our bingo callers and Lunch and Learn presenters.
A home-cooked meal of beef tips from Koopmann Catering will be paired with steamed white rice, sautéed fresh vegetables, our famous salad with seasonal fruit, and desserts from our talented members. It’s “Get to Know Your Neighbor” time after lunch, so spend some quality time chatting before Amanda from Anytime Fitness calls bingo at 12:30 p.m.
Enjoy a delicious chicken pot pie on Nov. 18 in Weimar along with our famous house salad, and garlic bread, with desserts provided by our members, make up the meal for the day.
The Lunch and Learn program will include Ryan Brandt, Colorado County Commissioner for the Weimar area, and he might even call some bingo. Niesha with True Care Living of Columbus will call bingo too.
Join us to celebrate November birthdays on Nov. 19 in Schulenburg. Arrive before 11 a.m. for a group photo if you were born in November.
The days menu will draw a big crowd. Chicken fried steak from Koopmann Catering, with gravy, buttered potatoes, house salad, and dessert from our members, is always a big hit.
The Senior Connections board of directors will meet Nov. 20. Once a month, they gather to plan and make decisions on our behalf. Amanda Kridel, the Executive Director, always prepares a delicious meal. Artful Friday continues on Nov. 21 from 10 a.m. - 12 p.m. Jaime Janda will lead art journal projects, while I, Stephanie Shroyer, will teach mosaics. We enjoy a light lunch afterwards. These classes are by registration only. Keep an eye out for our 2026 course schedule so you can sign up by calling (979) 732-3227.
Senior Connections will be closed during the week of Thanksgiving so our volunteers and staff can spend time with their families.
Membership at Senior Connections is free, and we offer heartwarming fellowship along with delicious meals. If you are 55 or older, you are welcome to join us at any or all of our locations.
