Sculpture Exhibit Opens Here
Larry Schueckler will present his bronze sculptures and drawings in a beautiful exhibition to be hosted by Arts for Rural Texas in Fayetteville. This exhibit has been a year in the making. Scheduled for April of 2020, the show was rescheduled due to the pandemic. Now, the exquisite forms created by Schueckler will be offered to all.
The artist’s creations draw the viewer in. The sense of energy and movement are vibrantly expressed in each piece. Even the most contemplative pieces take hold of the viewer, resonating emotion and a depth of feeling.
Larry believes the greater the investment, the greater the reward and this is obvious in his bronze sculptures. He began his career in figurative bronze castings in 2007. Inspired by the inner spirit and strength of the human figure, Larry works from live models, who are often athletes and performers at the pinnacle of their sport and art. Each sculpture has a unique characteristic and great strength, enhanced by Larry’s attention to detail and texture.
“I don’t believe there are limits to the potential of man. From the very beginning of time, the essence of life and the instinct for survival has been nurtured. Each century, each decade, each year, day and moment has favored that organism which could rise above all others. These strengths have become manifested in the incomprehensible combination of factors which make each of us unique. Fingerprints, eyes, the heart, soul and spirt which make up the billion who have come before and the billion not yet conceived, each as its own individual snowflake.
I search for those unique individuals who push the limits of emotion and allow the inner spirit to rise to the surface. Those who I seek out demonstrate dedication to a cause, the love of life, and creativity in exploring concepts never before conceived. My challenge is to recognize, interpret and record these individuals in a representative manner but, not one which is static. It is not an instant I seek; rather, an event portrayed as it unfolds before our eyes. It is this wonder and spirit of mankind’s unrestrained quest which I strive to capture.”
The exhibition includes Legends. This large sculpture will be presented in progress, in its original form of clay as the artist brings to life the legends of the past, present and future. He offers wonderful portraits of those across the region that have greatly contributed to supporting the arts and to creating an environment of beauty for us all. Included in this piece are
Ima Hogg and Alfred C. Glassell along with today’s contributors and many of the faces of the children at ARTS. Visitors may “experience the creation process as the sculpture begins to take form and the Giants who have shaped the arts in Texas are joined together with our children, the future of the arts.” Larry has been working on this original piece throughout the past year and sees it as an expression of the love and support of the arts in Texas and the beauty found in its people.
