Schulenburg Police Respond to Wire Theft
Schulenburg Police Chief Troy Brenek reports on the following incidents his department responded to during the week of Sept.19-25.
Theft
On Sept. 21, Patrolman Devan Taylor responded to the 700 block of Lyons for two male subjects that stole spools of wire and loose wire.
Animal Complaint
On Sept.19, Patrolman Juan Castilleja was dispatched to the 600 block of Upton for a loose gray and white cat with an abdominal injury. Officer attempted to locate the cat, however was not able to.
Animal Cruelty
On Sept.21, Patrolman Brent Gindler spoke with individual in regard to an animal that had been beaten, the man would bring the dog to the police station and provide a statement.
Accident
On Sept. 22, Patrolman Hailee Vincent spoke with complainant over the phone in regard to an accident that had happened in the Whataburger parking lot the previous night. Owners of vehicles exchanged information and took pictures of vehicles. One individual wanted to just pay cash for the damages and did not share insurance information. Officer advised both parties the accident took place on private property and police do not do accident reports on private property.
Agency Assist
On Sept. 19, Patrolman Chris Kalina assisted deputies with a road rage incident that had happened on I-10.
On Sept. 21, Gindler assisted EMS with locating an 18 wheeler who’s driver was possibly having a stroke.
Criminal Trespass
On Sept.19, Castilleja responded to the 600 block of West for an individual that was not welcome at the location. Complainant wanted a criminal trespass issued. Officer spoke with the individual and advised if he goes back to the residence he will be arrested.
Civil Matter
On Sept. 19, Vincent was dispatched to the police station in reference to a child custody swap.
Disturbance
On Sept. 19, Castilleja was dispatched to the 80 block of Kessler in reference to a possible physical disturbance between a male and a female. Officer determined that the disturbance was non-physical.
On Sept. 23, Castilleja responded to the 900 block of Eilers for a disturbance. The parties were separated for the night.
Suspicious Person
On Sept. 20, Vincent was dispatched to the 1200 block of N. Main for a suspicious male standing outside of the residence. Officer was unable to locate.
On Sept. 20, Gindler was dispatched to the Hitching Post for an individual who had been camped out for over 24 hours in their parking lot.
On Sept. 21, Sgt. Tobey McFadden was dispatched to the 700 block of N. Hwy. 77 for a suspicious person. Officer located the individual and he refused to give officer identification.
Traffic Stops
On Sept. 19, Vincent stopped a driver in the 10 block of Kessler for a vehicle driving without lights when required. A citation was issued for driving while license invalid and failure to maintain financial responsibility.
On Sept. 20, McFadden stopped a vehicle in the 100 block of Kessler for speeding in a school zone. Citation was issued.
On Sept. 20, Taylor stopped a truck at Kessler and S. Main for speeding through the underpass. A citation was issued.
On Sept. 20, Parkinson stopped a vehicle at Bucek and Upton for disregarding a stop sign. Individual did not have a driver’s license and citations were issued.
On Sept. 20, Gindler stopped a vehicle in the 300 block of Kessler for speeding in a school zone.
On Sept. 21, Patrolman Frank Parkinson stopped a vehicle in the 300 block of Kessler for speeding in a school zone. A citation was issued.
On Sept. 21, McFadden stopped a vehicle for speeding in the 100 block of Kessler for speeding in a school zone. A citation was issued.
On Sept. 21, Gindler stopped a vehicle for speeding in the school zone in the 300 block of Kessler. A warning for use of wireless communication device in school zone was also issued.
On Sept. 21, Gindler stopped a vehicle in the 1200 block of Kessler for speeding in a school zone. A citation was issued.
On Sept. 21, Parkinson stopped a vehicle at James and Summit for running a stop sign and failing to give right of way to a vehicle that was already on the main road. A citation was issued for both violations.
On Sept. 22, Vincent stopped a vehicle for speeding in the 200 block of Kessler and a citation for expired registration and failing to maintain financial responsibility were issued. A warning was issued for the speeding.
On Sept. 22, Vincent stopped a vehicle in the 300 block of Kessler for speeding in a school zone. A citation was issued.
On Sept. 22, Vincent stopped a vehicle in the 200 block of Kessler for speeding in a school zone. A citation was issued.
On Sept. 22, Sgt. Rusty Roggenkamp stopped a vehicle in the 800 block of West for a defective tail lamp. Officer issued two warnings one for defective tail lamp and the other for failing to update his change of address. Officer had individual call someone with a valid drivers license to come and drive the vehicle home.
On Sept. 22, Roggenkamp conducted a traffic stop in the 1000 block of Kessler on a vehicle for speeding in a school zone. A citation was issued.
On Sept. 23, Vincent stopped a vehicle in the 600 block of Summit for an expired registration. River was issued a citation for no driver’s license and given a courtesy ride back to Colonial.
On Sept. 24, Taylor stopped an 18-wheeler at Kessler and S. Main for failing to maintain a single lane while traveling through the underpass. Driver displayed an expired insurance and a citation for no insurance was issued.
On Sept. 24, Parkinson observed a vehicle run a red light in front of him at Summit and US Hwy. 77. A citation was issued for the violation and video footage is also available.
On Sept. 24, Parkinson spoke to a semi truck driver and asked him to move his truck from the middle of the road in the 300 block of Kessler. Driver advised he did not move because he was waiting for his Whataburger. A citation was issued for the violation.
Miscellaneous
On Sept. 19, Castilleja responded to the 600 block of Upton for found property. Officer was able to locate the owner of the property.
On Sept. 23, Vincent was contacted about a sick child at school in the 400 block of Black St.
On Sept. 24, Taylor was dispatched to the I-10 mile marker 674 to look for a vehicle whose driver had allegedly pointed a gun at another vehicle’s driver.
