Schulenburg Police Report
Schulenburg Police Chief Troy Brenek reports on the following incidents his department responded to during the week of Sept. 6-12.
Accident
On Sept. 6, Officer Juan Castilleja was dispatched to the 600 block of I-10 east for a major accident. Upon arrival Medic 4 was on scene. Driver and passenger were out of vehicle.
On Sept. 9, Castilleja responded to the Pilot in the 700 block of N. Kessler for an accident in the parking lot between an 18-wheeler and a Loves maintenance truck. Drivers exchanged information.
Animal Complaint
On Sept. 8, Animal Control Officer Gina Harden was stopped by a resident in the 800 block of Upton and requested trapping cats around her house.
On Sept. 8, Harden picked up some kittens in the 900 block of Anderson and took to the animal shelter where they had a nursing momma cat.
On Sept. 8, Harden while on patrol was approached by a resident in the 100 block of Cardinal concerning some horses. Owner was located and they advised they were in the process of giving the gelding to someone who is interested in getting it healthy.
Sept 9, Harden received a call regarding a dog that was hanging around the Regency central office for 2-3 weeks. Caller advised she had been giving it food and water when it showed up. Caller was able to leash the dogs and it was transported to the city pound and checked for a chip. There was a chip and owner was in San Antonio. The dog is a 6-year-old chocolate lab mix and is named Allison.
On Sept. 9, Castilleja was notified of an animal complaint in the 1000 block of August regarding a loose rottweiler attacking complainant’s dog. Officer located dog and transported to the city pound. The dog was not chipped.
Civil Matter
On Sept. 7, Officer Reydan Svatek responded to the 600 block of Upton for a child custody exchange. Complainant advised that this is an ongoing problem with him not showing up.
On Sept. 11, Svatek responded to the 100 block of Simpson for a civil matter concerning apartment manager entering her apartment without notice and taking photos of her kid’s rooms.
Disturbance
On Sept. 8, Officer Byron Powe responded to the 200-block of College for a verbal disturbance with staff and residents.
Theft
On Sept. 6, Whited responded to the 1500 block of Kellett for theft of a bike which has now been returned. No charges were filed.
On Sept. 12, Svatek responded to the 80 block of Kessler for theft of a digital camera.
Traffic Hazard
Officer James Whited was in Whataburger when a person walked in and informed him of a truck broke down on I-10 and 674. Truck was located and a wrecker was called.
Traffic Stop
On Sept. 7, Powe stopped a driver in the 200 block of N. Kessler for running a red light. Driver received a citation for running light and a warning for expired registration (4-26) On Sept. 8, Powe stopped a vehicle in the 500 block of I-10 showing to be stolen and failure to drive in a single lane. Officer spoke with the registered owner, and she advised the driver was her daughter who was returning the vehicle and did not want to press charges. Daughter was returning vehicle but received a warning for failure to drive in a single lane.
On Sept. 8, Powe stopped a driver in the 100 block of Kessler for speeding in a school zone. Driver received a citation.
On Sept. 8, Powe stopped a driver for speeding in the 600 block of W. I-10 for speeding going 100 in a 75.
On Sept. 9, Officer MD Krenek stopped a driver in the 500 block of Bucek for speeding in a school zone The driver was issued a verbal warning due to the fact the car printer was offline.
On Sept. 9, Castilleja conducted a traffic stop in the 100 block of Kessler for a vehicle speeding. Driver was issued a warning.
On Sept. 10, Castilleja stopped a driver in the 100 block of Kessler for speeding. Driver issued a warning.
On Sept. 10, Castilleja stopped a driver in the 200 block of Kessler for failing to signal lane change. A warning was issued.
On Sept. 11, Powe stopped a driver for expired registration (2-26) in the 200 block of Saint John Road. Driver received a warning for expired registration. Driver received citation for driving while license invalid.
On Sept. 11, Powe stopped a driver for speeding in the 700 block of Kessler going 44 in a 30. Driver received a citation.
On Sept. 11, Svatek responded to the 700 block of N. Kessler for credit card fraud at fuel pump.
On Sept. 11, Powe stopped a driver in the 100 block of Kessler for speeding in a school zone going 34 in a 25. Driver received a citation.
On Sept. 11, Powe stopped a driver for failure to signal at required distance in the 1000 block of James Avenue. Driver received a warning for failure to signal required distance and expired drivers license and driving while license suspended and a citation for no insurance.
On Sept. 11, Powe stopped a driver in the 500 block of N. Main for running a stop sign. Driver received a citation.
On Sept. 11, Powe stopped a driver in the 400 block of College for expired registration. Driver received a warning for expired registration and a citation for no insurance.
Welfare Check
On Sept. 9, Whited was dispatched to the 200 block of College for a welfare check.
