Schulenburg Police Report
Schulenburg Police Chief Troy Brenek reports on the following incidents his department responded to during the week of Aug. 30-Sept. 4.
Accident
On Aug. 30, Officer Byron Powe responded to the 500 block of North Street for a vehicle that struck a parked vehicle.
On Aug. 31, Officer Juan Castilleja responded to the 700 block of N. Kessler for an 18-wheeler that drove through the parking lot and hit another 18-wheeler. The unknown suspect left the location.
On Aug. 31, Castilleja responded to the 300 block of Kessler for an accident.
Agency Assist
On Sept. 1, Castilleja was dispatched to the 200 block of College for a vehicle fire in the parking lot.
Animal Complaint
On Sept. 1, Officer James Whited was dispatched to the 200 block of Heinrich to the Holiday Inn regarding a snake inside the hotel around the icemaker. Officer was unable to locate a snake.
Citizen Assist
On Sept. 1, Castilleja was informed of a dementia patient who had left their residence in a tan colored Ford F-150. Officer helped in trying to locate the individual and was in contact with his daughter.
On Sept. 1, Castilleja was informed of a citizen assist for an individual who was attempting to locate a cell phone near James and Summit.
On Sept. 1, Castilleja was informed of a broke down 18-wheeler on the 674 east entrance ramp. Officer contacted the driver who advised a wrecker was on the way.
Disturbance
On Sept. 1, Officer MD Krenek was dispatched to the 500 block of College for a student that was being uncooperative. Officer learned the student had struck his moms vehicle multiple times with his fists. The student was also cussing and yelling at staff and Officer Powe. The mom withdrew the student from SISD.
Nuisance
On Sept. 3, Powe responded to the 1100 block of Summit where caller stated her neighbor’s music was rattling her walls and requested the police have them turn it down. Resident agreed to reduce the volume.
Suspicious Person
On Aug. 30, Powe responded to the 200 block of College for two suspicious people pulling on the front door of Arlan’s and other businesses.
On Aug. 31, Krenek was dispatched to the500 block of College for a suspicious person.
On Sept. 1, Castilleja was notified of a transient sleeping in a tent on the property next to AutoZone. Officer contacted the individual who advised he was new to town and was working. Officer gave him information for the Schulenburg housing authority.
Terroristic Threat
On Sept. 1, Krenek was called to the 500 block of College for a student being out of control. Student was flipping over desks and threatening staff.
Traffic Stop
On Aug. 31, Castilleja stopped a driver in the 100 block of Kessler for speeding in a school zone. Driver received a citation. On Aug. 31, Castilleja stopped a driver in the 1100 block of N. Kessler for driving without lights when needed. Driver was issued a warning.
Aug 31, Castilleja stopped a driver in the 300 block of Summit for a vehicle that disregarded a red light. Driver was issued a warning.
Sept 1, Powe stopped a driver in the 100 block of N. Kessler for speeding in a school zone going 37 in a 25. Driver received a citation.
On Sept. 2, Powe stopped a driver in the 100 block of N. Kessler for speeding in a school zone going 36 in a 25. Driver received a citation.
On Sept. 4, Castilleja stopped a driver in the 80 block of Kessler for speeding. The driver was issued a warning.
On Sept. 4, Castilleja stopped a vehicle in the 1200 block of Kessler for speeding.
