Schulenburg Police Report
Schulenburg Police Chief Troy Brenek reports on the following incidents his department responded to during the week of Jan. 9-15.
Accident
On Jan. 13, Officer Chris Kalina was dispatched to the 50 block of N. Kessler for a minor accident. The minor accident was documented.
Civil Matter
On Jan. 10, Sgt. Tobey was dispatched to 89 Kessler to Dollar General for a civil matter. Manager had terminated an employee who would not return calls and manager needs the keys returned. Officer located the individual and obtained the keys, which were then returned to the manager.
On Jan. 11, McFadden responded to the 200 block of W. I-10 Frontage Rd. where a contractor was stealing city water. Officer advised the company needs to pay City Hall for the stolen water and open a water contract
Disturbance
On Jan. 11, McFadden was dispatched to the 700 block of Kessler Ave. where a 15-yearold male was back talking his mom. Officer attempted to talk to the young man and he was resistant. Officer advised mom she should start enforcing rules and making consequences.
On Jan. 12, Castilleja was dispatched to the 600 block of West Ave. in reference to a disturbance. Upon arrival the complainant advised her mother was refusing to give her the groceries and food stamp card. Parties were separated.
Suspicious Person/Vehicle
On Jan. 9, Castilleja observed a suspicious vehicle parked in Wolters Park after hours and observed the windows to be fogged. Officer approached the vehicle and observed a male and female trying to get dressed. The vehicle and occupants were identified and Roggenkamp and Kalina assisted on scene. Officer informed the individuals they would not be issuing citations. However, he also advised that there was a time and place for what they were doing, and after hours at the park were neither. Officer advised if he finds them in the park again after hours, both would get citations.
On Jan. 14, Kalina responded to the 200 block of Heinrich in reference to suspicious people Officer located a stolen vehicle.
Criminal Mischief
On Jan. 13, Officer Juan Castilleja along with Sgt. Roggenkamp and Officer Kalina responded to the 700 block of Paulus for a vandalized car. We observed upon arrival the vehicle appeared to have yogurt and tuna on it. No other damage was done and complainant wanted it documented and informed us that her brothers vehicle was egged a week prior.
Traffic Stop
On Jan. 9, Castilleja conducted a traffic stop in the 200 block of Kessler on a vehicle that disregarded red light. A warning was issued.
On Jan. 10, Officer Frank Parkinson stopped a vehicle at U.S. Hwy. 77 and I-10 for running a red light.
On Jan. 10, Parkinson stopped a vehicle in the 800 block of Kessler for driving 59 in a 30 mph zone.
On Jan. 11, Parkinson stopped a vehicle in the 800 block of Kessler for driving 48 in a 30 mph zone.
On Jan. 11, Parkinson stopped a vehicle in the 800 block of Kessler for a vehicle driving 53 in a 30 mph zone. The vehicle was searched and officer had occupants destroy some cigarillos and a little bag of seeds.
On Jan. 12, Castilleja conducted a traffic stop in the 700 block of Kessler for speeding 10% or over. A citation was issued.
On Jan. 13, Castilleja stopped a vehicle in the 1500 block of Kessler for an obscured license plate. A warning was issued.
On Jan. 13, Castilleja stopped a vehicle for no license plate in the 700 block of Kessler. Driver advised he had not put the new plates on and a warning was issued.
On Jan. 13, Castilleja stopped a vehicle in the 600 block of Summit for a vehicle with a defective headlamp. A warning was issued.
On Jan. 14, Parkinson stopped a vehicle in the 800 block of Kessler for driving 50 mph in a 30 zone.
On Jan. 15, Parkinson stopped a vehicle in the area of Wolters and Paulus for two violations. Citation for failure to maintain financial responsibility was issued.
On Jan. 15, Parkinson issued a citation for individual parking in a fire lane in the 700 block of N. Kessler
Miscellaneous
On Jan. 9, Castilleja, Roggenkamp and Kalina assisted a motorist on Hwy. 77. They were able to get a spare tire on their trailer and back on the road.
On Jan. 11, McFadden spoke with an individual about her child and advised the child went to stay with her biological father and refuses to come home. There is no custody agreement or any paper work. Officer advised the police couldn’t make a child leave a biological parent.
On Jan. 13, Officer Hailee Vincent spoke with individual who advised he was receiving toll bills from Austin on a vehicle he sold in 2015. Officer advised he would document the incident so he could send to the toll company, however there was nothing he could do criminally.
