Schulenburg Police Report
Schulenburg Police Chief Troy Brenek reports on the following incidents his department responded to during the week of Oct. 3-9.
Agency Assist
On Oct. 3, Officer Chris Kalina responded to the 700 block of N. Kessler to assist EMS with a couple that had been traveling and appeared to be in stress and had been sitting for a long distance. Officer assisted with getting the couple a hotel and helped into the hotel room. The female denied treatment.
On Oct. 7, Officer Juan Castilleja was dispatched to the 1000 block of Klesel to assist deputies with a subject who had attempted to break into a house. The homeowner was holding a gun on the suspect. The subject was taken into custody on public intoxication.
Alarm
On Oct. 6, Castilleja responded to a panic alarm in the 400 block of Baumgarten. Individual did not know how it was set off and all appeared to be fine. Call cleared.
Civil Matter
On Oct. 6, Castilleja responded to the 1100 block of Wolters for a civil standby so individual could get her sons belongings. Officer advised complainant she needed to make contact with homeowner before he would allow her to gather her sons’ stuff.
Disturbance
On Oct. 9, Officer Brent Gindler responded to the 500 block of West Ave. in regard to an individual who brought alcohol onto the property and was possibly intoxicated. Upon arriving on scene the officer found the person was in a wheelchair and was not combative just upset.
On Oct. 9, Sgt. Tobey McFadden was dispatched to the 400 block of S. Main for a disturbance possibly involving a gun. Upon arrival officer found one individual highly intoxicated and could hardly stand.
Suspicious Person/Vehicle
On Oct. 3, Officer Hailee Vincent responded to the 100 block of Cardinal in reference to a car parked in the road with no registration.
Oct, 8, Gindler responded to the 500 block of N. Main in regard to subject parked. The subject was parked in the shade eating his breakfast.
On Oct. 8, Officer Frank Parkinson responded to the 300 block of Kallus where complainant was hearing noises coming from her backyard. Officer checked and could not locate anything.
Traffic Stop
On Oct. 4, Parkinson stopped a vehicle in the 300 block of Kessler for speeding in a school zone. Driver was going 41 in a 25. A citation was issued.
On Oct. 4, Parkinson stopped a vehicle in the 800 block of Kessler for speeding going 45 in a 30. A citation was issued.
On Oct. 4, Parkinson stopped a vehicle in the 800 block of Kessler for speeding and after stopping saw the registration was also expired. Citations were issued.
On Oct. 4, Parkinson stopped a vehicle for speeding in a school zone. A citation was issued.
On Oct. 4, Parkinson stopped a vehicle for speeding in a school zone and individual could not provide proof of registration or insurance. A citation was issued for all violations.
On Oct. 4, Parkinson stopped a vehicle at US Hwy. 77 and I-10 for an expired registration and for not displaying a front license plate.
On Oct. 4, Gindler stopped a vehicle for speeding in a school zone.
On Oct. 5, Parkinson stopped a vehicle at Summit and Lyons for cutting in front of the officer, and almost hitting him. After stopping driver, officer found the driver did not have a driver’s license. Officer issued a citation and had a friend with a valid license drive.
On Oct. 6, Castilleja stopped a vehicle in the 300 block of Kessler for a vehicle with an obscured license plate.
On Oct. 6, Vincent stopped a vehicle for speeding in a school zone in the 200 block of Kessler.
On Oct. 7, Vincent stopped a vehicle in the 1000 block of Kessler for speeding in a school zone. Driver was going 40 in a 25. A citation was issued.
On Oct. 7, Vincent stopped a vehicle in the 600 block of Summit for speeding.
On Oct. 7, Officer Duane Meager stopped a vehicle for a defective stop lamp in the 100 block of Kessler.
On Oct. 7, Meagher issued a citation to driver in the 100 block of Kessler for expired drivers license and a warning for speeding.
On Oct. 7, Castilleja stopped a vehicle in the 900 block of N. Kessler for a vehicle with out license plate lights. The vehicle registration was also expired and officer issued two warnings.
On Oct. 7, Castilleja conducted a traffic stop in the 600 block of James Ave. for a vehicle not having a license plate light. Officer also found driver did not have a proper address on divers license. Warnings were issued.
On Oct. 8, McFadden stopped a vehicle at Bucek and Upton for failure to signal required distance and vehicle had been reported swerving on Hwy. 77. A warning was issued.
Welfare Check
On Oct. 8, Parkinson was dispatched to the 600 block of Upton for a welfare check. The officer made contact with the individual and all was fine.
On Oct. 8, McFadden was dispatched to the 100 block of Wolf for a welfare check.
Miscellaneous
On Oct. 3, Kalina located subjects at the sports complex in the 300 block of Schwartz Blvd. and the subjects were warned about being at the complex after hours and were advised of the hours of operation.
On Oct. 3, Kalina was dispatched to the 600 block of Upton for loud music. Officer did not locate any loud music.
On Oct. 3, Kalina located two subjects under the pavilion in the 1100 block of Bohlmann. Officer advised that the park was closed.
On Oct. 4, Gindler responded to the 1600 block of James Ave. for a report of a battery stolen out of his tractor.
On Oct. 6, Castilleja was dispatched to the 700 block of Kessler for an 18-wheeler that had forgotten to set its parking brake and was now leaking fuel from one of the tanks. Driver had forgotten to set his parking brake and the truck rolled forward striking the curb and busting on of his fuel tanks.
On Oct. 8, McFadden stopped a go-cart in the 800 block of Herder and driver agreed to return home.
On Oct. 8, McFadden pulled down illegally posted signs place on city light poles up and down Hwy. 77.
On Oct. 8, Parkinson responded to the 300 block of Kessler for a subject that was refusing to leave the location and was bothering customers. Individual refused ride back to Colonial but then walked back.
On Oct. 9, Gindler responded to the 100 block of Schulz for individuals riding a 4-wheeler on the street.
On Oct. 9, Gindler responded to the 100 block of Schulz for a sick cat the complainant wanted removed from her residence.
