Schulenburg Police Issues Citations for Speeding

Schulenburg Police Chief Troy Brenek reports on the following incidents his department responded to during the week of Dec. 26 through Jan 1.

Animal Complaint

On Dec. 26, Officer Hailee Vincent responded to the 400 block of Anderson for a dog trying to attack a female. Owner came and got the dog.

On Dec. 26, Vincent found a dog in the 200 block of Russek.

Criminal Mischief

On Dec. 27, Sgt. Tobey McFadden responded to the 1100 block of Hillje in reference to kids who broke a window on CARTS bus located a the civic center. Officer spoke to several kids who advised they were playing catch with each other with rocks. The kids overthrew the rocks and hit the driver side door window out of CARTS bus. CARTS was notified and advised they would fix the window and refused to pursue charges.

Disturbance

On Dec. 27, Officer Chris Kalina responded to the 1100 block of August for a disturbance.

On Jan 1, Officer Frank Parkinson responded to the 100 block of Simpson in regard to a disturbance.

Suspicious Person/Vehicle

On Dec. 26, Kalina observed a vehicle parked in the alley in the 700 block of Wolters with no lights. Officer found the individual of the vehicle digging in the dumpster.

On Dec. 29, Vincent responded to the 900 block of Anderson for a suspicious person walking but was unable to locate.

On Dec. 30, Vincent responded to the 700 block of Huser for a suspicious person that came to the location asking strange questions. Officer was unable to locate.

Traffic Stop

On Dec. 29, Officer Juan Castilleja stopped a vehicle in the 40 block of Kessler for vehicle driving without headlights when required.

On Dec. 31, Meagher stopped a vehicle in the 800 block of James Ave. for speeding. A warning was issued.

On Dec. 31, Parkinson stopped a vehicle in the 800 block of Kessler for speeding. Driver was gong 54 in a 30 mph zone and did not have insurance. Citations were issued.

On Dec. 31, Parkinson stopped a vehicle for speeding in the 800 block of Kessler going 51 in a 30 mph and having expired license.

On Dec. 31, Parkinson stopped a vehicle in the 800 block of Kessler for going 55 in a 30 mph zone. A citation was issued.

On Jan. 1, Parkinson stopped a vehicle in the 800 block of Kessler for driving 52 in a 30 mph zone. A citation was issued.

Welfare check

On Dec. 29, Vincent responded to the 1100 block of August for a welfare check on a subject.

Miscellaneous

On Jan. 1, Parkinson drove up on an individual setting off fireworks in the 1300 block of Pierce St. and he was given a verbal warning.
